Brakes wear out fast. Went online to research and found many similar issues by other owners. Heater does not work for several minutes. Starter issues. 2-3 miles after starting in winter thermostat climbs to peak and then returns back after few seconds.

Grand Caravan Stow & Go 3.8L

My son and his family took my vehicle to Colorado for a vacation last year. He noticed the problem starting about a mile from his motel and limped it back. He called me and I arranged for towing to the Dodge dealership (2 blocks from motel) through the extended warranty. The dealership said it was the sensors for the ABS brake system that caused the brakes to lock up. They replaced them and everything was fine after that. Now 14 months later, I have the same problem, except that the time has run out on the extended warranty.

Brake shop worked on van many times. Sometimes I drive a hundred miles before the wheels begin to smoke due to the heat, calipers just will not release. Heat ruins the rotors--again and again. No recall notices from the Dodge dealer. This van has problems, first brake job at 58,500 miles--now I get one every week!!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions???????????

THIS IS THE SECOND GRAND CARAVAN WE HAVE PURCHASED NEW, AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. THE VAN STARTS TO BRAKE FUNNY, LIKE THE FRONT END IS DOING TO MUCH OF THE BRAKING. THEN WITHIN A DAY OR TWO THE RIGHT FRONT CALIPER LOCKS UP AND GRINDS THE BRAKES TO DUST. CHRYSLER SAID THAT THEIR FRONT BRAKES USUALLY LAST BETWEEN 29 AND 35 THOUSAND MILES. I SAID THAN WHY DID MINE ONLY LAST LESS 20 THOUSAND, AND WHY WOULDN'T IT BE COVERED ( AT LEAST PARTIALLY)IF IT IS AS YOU CALL IT "PREMATURE BRAKE FAILURE." I CANNOT BELIEVE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM AS CHRYSLER CLAIMS.
