No specific events prior, just parked car for the evening. Car started but no headlights or interior gauge lights including gear indicator, also no electric door locks. After several restarts all work but check engine light is on. No check engine light now. Cruise control light flickers on and off. This happened a few times when the car was new and the dealer was able to stop it by replacing the computer.

The lights will randomly come on and off while driving. Sometimes you are unable to turn head lights on. I have replaced the lights switch and the dealer does not seem to know what the problem is. The last problem occurred on 8/26/2004.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan power sliding door failure due to faulty wiring harnesses. This has occurred for the past two years. The wiring harness has broken wire internally and then the door will not function or will partially function. When it partially functions, the driver may begin to operate the vehicle when the rear doors are not completely shut.

Problem Dodge Grand Caravan handicap conversion van:on a Friday afternoon 2010 this van stopped in a moving lane NY thruway outside of the buffalo area. Traffic was bumper to bumper, stop and go with many heavy trucks.after 2 911 calls, the thruway flatbed tow truck did not reach us for nearly a half hour. No cops came at all. My husband, in his large motorized wheelchair, and I (the driver) were stopped with traffic moving in the 2 lanes from behind us.my blinkers were on but traffic had to realize we were totally stopped and then useother lanes, including the breakdown lane to our right, to go around us! thankfully, we were not hit by these gigantic trucks.we are alive to tell the story. It is now 10 days later. The first repair shop and then, the next day till now, a dealer repair shop have worked on the van. Two sensors were replaced and then the entire computer was replaced. Both repairs did not make the van start. The dealer shop was in contact with the Chrysler/Dodge corporation. The wiring harness was opened. Part of the problem was found. I don't know all the details of their investigation. Waiting for my vehicle to be fixed, my handicapped husband and I have now amassed $1000 in hotel/etc. Bills due to this incident. And, this cost does not yet include fixing our vehicle. Finally, the dealer repair shop arranged to have a rental van delivered to our hotel (our cost) so we could finally get the special wheel chair and drive home 8 hours. And thus far all the costs are mine. I now have another $1000 rental fee facing me because the wheelchair van to get was rented for 8 days, on the dealer repair shops arrangements. A fee would be charged for "early" return of the wheelchair rental. Note that my husband had only a borrowed manual, non-tilting wheelchair for the duration. Please help us sort this out and save others from the stress and fees we have endured for this. I am now also afraid to drive that Dodge van back home on a busy highway, or anywhere.

My Caravan has had numerous electrical problems and is now sitting in my driveway unable to be driven or to sell. Power window and door failure, gauges jumping, radio disconnecting itself, lights turning on and off when no one is in the car, and finally the end result is total power failure (sometimes in the middle of an intersection). Scared for my life and the life of my children I have stopped driving it. I have spent $1600 at the Dodge dealership only to finally be told they can no longer help me. I have talked to Chrysler directly and they stopped calling me back. There is clearly thousands of complaints about similar problems. I am sick over the junk pile I can't remove or replace in this economy. When will Chrysler be held accountable?

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT with 3.8liter engine has dash light cluster flicker, headlight flicker and with every dash light lighting up and gauges going dead, then reappearing. Dealer tried to say it was battery, replaced it, then they said alternator, replaced it. After research, it appears they did not check body control module. My research indicates this is a significant problem, and no auto parts recyclers in North Texas can keep BCM's in stock because of the demand. Significantly, the dealers want to charge $300-400 for the part, then $100 for programming it. My research also indicates the manufacturer may have been aware of the problem and superceded the part with an improvement. The old part number 4692158aa has been replaced with 4692158ab. I think this part should be replaced free of charge on a recall as the problem appears to be nationwide based on the websites I have read comments. Further, many dealers are apparently taking advantage of the customers by selling them parts they do not need because they are not testing the BCM or voluntarily choosing to find the problem after the customer has fed the dealer coffers for batteries and alternators, etc.

Auto purchased Aug 2005. Incident began occurring in early 2009. Automatic and remote door locks do not work on 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Removing and replacing 20A iod fuse corrects the problem for a short while (1 day to 1 week), but the issue always recurs. When the door lock is inoperative, the automatic door lock at 19 mph feature also does not work.

We have 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, the lights on the van keeping turning on when opening the door they stay on for a long time, then they shut off and during the day they turn on by themselves and even in the middle of the night because the battery will loose power after it happens so many times, have not been able to find the problem, went by Dodge dealerships and they say they have never heard of such complaint.

Recently my power door locks quit on my 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, when trying to activate it either by my key or from the door panel. I gave it to my mechanic who fixed the problem.. the same problem recurred a week later. I was quite upset for paying money for a simple problem which was not fixed. The mechanic told me to disconnect the power from the battery (for at least 15 minutes) and then reconnect the battery. The power door locks now work. However this problem could happen again. I did a search on this problem on the web and found many other people complaining about this exact problem on the 2005 Grand Caravan. The correct solution seems to be going to a dealer. But I will not pay for a manufacturing defect ( and this defect is definitely a safety and security problem). This problem should be under a recall order.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. While sitting idle at a traffic stop, the console warning lights all illuminated intermittently. On occasion, the vehicle would stall when the failure would occur. The warranty company was contacted and advised the contact that the component would not be covered under her extended warranty plan. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 64,101.

2005 Grand Caravan - dashboard lights flicker, gauges go crazy, radio dies and sometimes engine stalls. We have noticed these events occur after driving the van 30 minutes or more. Where as the flickering was an annoyance the stalling issue could be hazardous if this should occur on the highway. Some online research has said a possible problem with a wiring harness but my closest dealership cant find the issue.

Electronic door lock and unlock feature fails. There are only 2 doors where a manual key entry is available, the drivers door and tailgate. This also disables opening the sliding side doors as they won't automatically unlock. Also disabled are the automatic door locking at speed for safety. You can temporarily fix this by disconnecting the fuse or battery for a short time and reconnecting. There are numerous complaints on the internet about this problem. Dodge should fix this on a recall.

A 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT. The cluster gauges will bounce around and the lights, radio, etc., flicker. The car has died while idling. It has died when accelerating to turn at a stop light. It has died while stopped at a stop light. Occasionally the car will not restart right away after it has died. I have not been in an automobile accident as of yet, but I am extremely concerned that this could lead to me and my children (whom I almost always have in the car with me) being involved in an accident. Occasionally the wind shield wipers have just stopped working and the electric doors won't work and other random electrical issues. We have taken the car to the dealership and they told us that the battery had an internal short in it. So they replaced the battery and said that all was fixed. That worked for about a week and now we are back to square one. I have found many complaints about this problem on different websites from people with the same year of van and no one seems to have found a working solution. I think it is ridiculous that Dodge can not seem to fix this problem or doesn't seem to know what the problem is when there are so many other people with the same issue. This is definitely a potentially life-threatening defect in this van and should be addressed asap!!!

We own a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with 74.000 miles on it. The power locks will repeatedly lock when I use my keyless remote entry or the overhead console buttons to open the sliding doors. These doors should be unlocking but instead everything is locking. While I'm driving, I can hear the clicking of the locks "re-locking" even though they are in the locked position. This happens when the rear wiper is running or I press and release the window control button. Sometimes I hit the power lock button on the driver door to lock all doors but nothing locks. I have had this happen before, but for shorter periods of time. With 5 doors of entry, I never know if my car is truly locked.

I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. Last night my wife and I were traveling on I-15 from las vegas at aprox.time 9pm in the dark and our headlights turned-off and then turned on randomly. This was an awful experience driving like this for more than 100 mile in the mojave desert. Cars thought I was flashing them. I was driving in the slow lane at one point behind a trucker, I believe he thought I was flashing him. I passed him and then he got on my bumper and he flashed his lights on off several times at me..I was scared... this should be a recall....its not safe.!!....an accident could have happened not being able to see the road...
