my 2005 DGC started using 3 quarts of oil extra per oil change around 55,000 miles, went to dealership to have something done under warranty and they said that is normal, and did nothing about it, after warranty was up (now going through 4 to 4.5 quarts of oil per oil change they want to repair or replace the heads). this should have been fixed, this was my first and last dodge vehicle.GM has always taken good care of my vehicles, have a suburban with 140,000 and a silverado with 225,000 and they don't burn a drop of oil

Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,500 miles

The 3.8 has used oil since it was new. Asked the dealer about it and they said it will use some but it has used up to 4 qts between oil changes (every 5K). The intake gaskets appear to be seeping oil and it must burn some (not noticeable). Probably oil leaks all over the engine because it is getting oily and dirty with only 75K on it. Since being out of warranty I have switched to 5W30 and a qt of lucas oil treatment and this has helped alot!

I am concerned that this new vehicle is burning almost 1 quart of oil every 2000 - 3000 mile. I change it religiously and used full synthetic... I will follow up with the dealer but, as I said I am really troubled with the potential causes.
