I was in a major front end head on collision in which my airbags failed to deploy. My husband in the passenger seat hit the windshield. When they towed it to the garage I was told that they would have totaled my van out if the airbags had deployed. That's how bad the damage and crash was. I want to know what is the point of having airbags if they don't do their job. I am very angry at Dodge.
Update from Dec 12, 2011: I notified Chrysler of this and filed an incident report. An investigator was assignrd and I received a letter stating that their was alot of motor debri involved BUT there was not enough frame damage to have caused the airbags to deploy. My thoughts to this...."Are you serious?" The motor was almost in my lap. Upon taking my van apart for the repairs, the repairman had to remove both front airbag sensors. These had to be replaced because upon looking at them there was 1 pin (out of the 2) in each one of the sensors that had oxidized(rusted) and broke. Therefore, no matter what type of collision, these airbags were useless!!!!!! In my opinion...Chrysler is at fault. These were defective airbag sensors that resulted in defective airbags. Of course chrysler passed the buck!!!
