The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. When starting the vehicle, the key would not remain in the start position and returned out of position. In addition, the signal lights failed to illuminate. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 11V139000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.
Our 2008 Grand Caravan has been in the dealership for repair 7 times since purchase. The last occurrence almost caused my wife to be in an accident. The turn signals of the vehicle stopped working. Along with that the windows would not function nor would the ac. She had to restart the van twice to get the turn signals working again. While driving to the dealership for service, the vehicle shut off and restarted on its own while in motion. The dealer determined that it was the ignition node and replaced on 6-19-08. We have requested a buy back due to safety issues but have not been granted one at this time.
