Why is it that big repairs happen right after the warranty is up. The transmission has always had a hard shifting problem from first to second. Under warranty they could not find a problem ( of course ). No it won't engage at all. Had it towed to transmission shop for repair. Waiting on the estimate.

Update from Sep 13, 2018: After 3000 dollar rebuild and 2000 miles of learning the transmission is working great. The shop said they are seeing a lot of this model transmissions for the same problem. Chrysler needs to be checking into this. I've owned dodge caravans since the 80's this is the second one with transmission problems. For the price I paid for it My next one will probably be a different manufacture .

Grand Caravan SVT 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

this bites my ass. nowhere near enough miles to have this problem. no fix other than to rebuild tranny and the tranny shop here wants 3200.00 to fix it. this is way too damn expensive of a repair. dodge should repair this at no charge. engine has a 150,000 mile warranty so should cover the transmission
