On May 6th 2015, I drove my 2015 Durango to Wal Mart. I parked my vehicle in the Auto Service Center parking lot. I then went into the Wal Mart through the Service Center. I was in the store for about 10-15 minutes (mostly in the electrical dept). As I was getting ready to check out via the Service Center with my items, when I was asked if owned a Gray Dodge Durango. I said I did, and was told that my vehicle just hit another vehicle At first, I thought the guy meant that MY vehicle was just hit by someone else. I went out to the parking lot and saw that my vehicle was not parked where I left it, but about 8 parking spots away, and wedged onto a Toyota Tacoma that my vehicle hit. Several witnesses stated that my vehicle started up, went into reverse, started backing up, made a sharp reverse U turn and backed into the Tacoma that was several (8) parking slots away. They all ran over to my vehicle because it was thought that someone driving the vehicle was having a medical emergency or something. They were all shocked to find no one in the vehicle. At any rate, I called the police, did the report, the cop took statements and contact info from all the witnesses. He asked me if it was possible that I left the vehicle in reverse when I parked, and then inadvertently remote started my vehicle. I advised him that I did not leave my vehicle in reverse.

1st, you can't turn off the ignition if the vehicle is in reverse or neutral.

2nd, to get the vehicle out of park, you have to engage the brakes, then physically turn the shift knob from park to revere.

3rd, even if it was possible to park the truck in reverse, and I remotely started the vehicle which in turn, allowed my vehicle to move, how in the He_# did the steering wheel get turned so far that my vehicle made a u turn sharp enough to back into a parked vehicle just 8 stalls away? Keep in mind, when I parked, I pulled straight into the slot where I parked wheels were straight, not turned!

After notifying my insurance company, I contacted Chrysler Dodge Corp and filed a complaint. The rep I spoke with advised that this issue will be elevated to the next technical support tier and issued me a case number. So now I wait to hear back from them. I hope this is investigated because as of now, my auto insurance is going to go through the roof for the next 3-5 years for an accident that I didn't even cause!!!!! Not to mention I'm concerned as to how any of this could have happened and could it happen again. I don't even want to continue to drive this vehicle even after all the damage is repaired.
