hard misfire and rough idle creating issues while in traffic, almost rear ended multiple times because of loss of acceleration. inspection by mechanic says misfire in cylinder 2 couldn't be fixed. (multiple coils and spark plug replacements) mechanice made contact with a GM certified mechanic who indicated this is a common problem in the 3.6 engine used in these vehicles. Issue is deep within engine and requires complete engine replacement. It was explained to me that the engine could keep going as-is, or debris could begin breaking off inside the engine and cause total loss at any time. researched and found similar issue with 2012 engines.

the vehicle has a permanent cylinder 2 misfire. the misfire has at times produced an unexpected change in the vehicle's acceleration which could be dangerous in certain traffic conditions. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center who determined that the source of the misfire is either a mechanical component inside the engine or part of the valve train. I have been told that this issue could result in sudden engine lockup during operation.

The van started shaking on a trip. Codes P0172 and P0175 have been on for nearly 2 months. Many parts have been replaced. Spark plugs, o2 sensor, fuel injectors, ignition coils, and battery. The mechanic replaced gaskets and fuel pump. Codes won't go away. The van randomly takes multiple time to start. It shudders and has acceleration issues when the fuel I low.

2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. 3.6 pentastar engine. 60K miles. For over a year it has rough idle and engine vibration at hwy speed. Misfire on cylinder #2 does not go away. Always returns. Have replaced coils, plugs twice and injectors. #2 cylinder misfire still throws engine light. Went to and called Dodge dealer several times about problem. They claim there are no known issues, problems or recalls. They keep trying to tell me it's bad fuel and I should use higher grade fuel. I've done that as well and the misfire on #2 cylinder is always there. The vibration gets so bad sometimes the entire vehicle shakes like your sitting in a massage chair. My wife refuses to drive it anymore and I'm really frustrated that Dodge refuses to acknowledge there is a defect on this engine that is causing this and should be covered by them. It's only a year old and should not be having this problem.
