My check engine light came on in November 2023 and the code was a cylinder 2 misfire, so I had new spark plugs, ignition coil, and intake gaskets put in. About 2 days later, my check engine light came back on. I went back to the shop and was told it could be a number of things, but was not provided any set explanation. I then noticed that they engine light will turn off randomly, but then come right back on, so I thought it might be a wiring issue. I took my vehicle to my mechanic for diagnostic, due to my check engine light still being on after having the spark plugs, ignition coil, and intake gaskets replaced within the last 6 months. My mechanic said that my vehicle needs a new cylinder head, and that he has seen this same issue with several other Dodge Grand Caravans, and that another vehicle with the same parts was recalled for the same problem.
My 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan GT driver side sliding door is jammed shut and locked. I took it to 2 dealerships near me and both want almost $1000 per door to fix. The actuator is out and they said the loud noise when opening and closing the passenger side sliding door is a sign that door is also about to go out. My VIN doesn-??t fall into the recalls. This seems like it is a hazard. If both doors indeed get stuck then how do you get car seats in and out" Isn-??t it dangerous if other kids have to climb in and out the front doors? I-??m so confused how this isn-??t a recall when it will be dang near impossible to move car seats and kids through front doors or even moving 3rd row to get in and out and put back up for it to be sat in. What do you do in event of a crash if you can get kids out" Please help! [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
My engine light came on reading stated #2 misfire. I have had spark plugs, wires, coil boot intake gaskets replaced. Now #2 misfire is reading a permanent code. I need to know why this is not a recall on my van there are reports of thousands of Dodges having this happen and has become quite costly for me. I'm afraid to drive the vehicle because it could apparently cause my valves to crack and cost a large amount of money to repair I'm [XXX] very sickly, I also still make payments on the vehicle. On 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan the side sliding door does not lock. When van is locked, the side sliding door can be opened from the outside (similar issue was reported on 2016 models) while van is supposedly locked. Safety and theft problem.
The passenger side door actuator, which is responsible for unlocking and locking the door, has failed on my van. The door remains in the unlocked position and will not close. The previous poses a risk to the safety of my family since the lock will not engage. The problem with the actuator is that it does not allow the automatic locks to engage, which Dodge has installed to prevent carjackings. This issue arose approximately two months ago, and after searching online, I have noticed that this is a common failure on Dodge Grand Caravan models from the 2010s to their last year of production. My van is a 2019 model; the door actuator failed shortly after the warranty expired. The local Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram FIAT Dealership quoted me a minimum of $1200 to fix the problem. In the past, they issued a warranty extension from 3 years or 36,000 miles to 15 years / 150,000 miles for failed actuators; they limited it to 2015-2017 models. The warranty bulletin is posted on the NHTSA website; it is dated November 10, 2021 Hopefully, you can help. My issue with the unlocked position is bad; there are others whose doors remain in the locked position, posing a serious risk, especially when people find themselves in accidents in those Dodge Grand Caravans with failed actuators.
The lock actuator on the rear driver's side door has seized in the locked position. I have two small children that require car seats and assistance with seat belts. If there was an accident, I'd be unable to open said door to get my child out of the vehicle without having to go around and climb through the other side, around another car seat. The only indicator that there's something wrong is that the dash display says to unlock the door to open it. I've researched online and this appears to be a known issue that Dodge doesn't fix, but it seems to be quite a safety hazard that must be addressed.
Electrical: Intermittently, the headlights will dim for a second then return to normal-?"whether at an idle at a traffic light/stop sign, or at highway speeds. The turn signal will also pause briefly, breaking the normal clicking rhythm. Sliding door: The sliding door (Driver side) just began experiencing problems on 08/10/2023-?"upon completing the opening cycle, the door would not latch in the open position, accompanied by a clicking sound. When closing the door, it would stop short of latching closed-?"again accompanied with the clicking sound. It would click 3-4 times, then stop-?"the door remaining ajar. This happens regardless the mechanism used to operate the procedure: the button on the console above the dash, the button near the manual door opener (on center pillar), the button on the remote, as well as the exterior door handle. The door will open/close latching properly with manual operation.
The van started shaking on a trip. Codes P0172 and P0175 have been on for nearly 2 months. Many parts have been replaced. Spark plugs, o2 sensor, fuel injectors, ignition coils, and battery. The mechanic replaced gaskets and fuel pump. Codes won't go away. The van randomly takes multiple time to start. It shudders and has acceleration issues when the fuel I low.
Vehicle rear doorlatch stuck shut and will not open manually or with vehicle fob or buttons. This has happened twice in eight months. The first time, the mechanic was able to manually open it but this time it will not open at all.
We had just returned from the grocery store parked the car in the driveway and were proceeding to exit the car. My 17 yr old daughter was sitting in the passenger seat when we heard a loud bang and her head was jolted foward by the headrest, upon examination and a quick Google search we learned that it was a safety feature for when rear-ended which had not happened.
The Oil Filter Housing Unit was loose, causing oil to slow-leak into the spark plugs, resulting in my engine misfiring. According to the mechanic that worked on my vehicle, this is common in a lot of newer vans like the Caravan and the Chrysler Town And Country. I ended up having to pay about $900 to have the spark plugs and the Oil Filter Housing Unit replaced.
The power rear door on the passenger side is stuck in the closed position. Can not be manually opened or opened with the button. It can not be unlocked. This is an issue in an accident. This makes it increasingly difficult for passengers to get out of the vehicle in an emergency. This has been a problem ever since Dodge introduced the power sliding doors on their vans.
my car was towed away from my parking space and given to a dodge dealer, i coulndt figure out where it was, i finally found where it was, the guy who took it in was already doing repairs and investigating with out, knowing whose car is it, he goes and does a repair not being on what we talked about and does his repair, then he tells me i payy up 1,400 for the repairs he did, before he repaired it i asked him to check the fluids makes sure everything is good and ready so i wont be left in the road stranded, i come back 2 day later cause i take my car for a drive, for 15 mins and head to the same dealer cause oil pressure light and battery light and oil light was on and the person who serviced me saw this when i took it in, before i asked him to check if everything with fluids is up to date, when he first was repairing it and didnt know what was wrong with it, so then i meet him and he says well we cant repair it because we dont know what could it be and the car needs more driving for it to see whats wrong with it, and or you can try coming with warranty, then my car breaks down after i leave the shop test driving it for 15 mins cause he advised me to drive it or get warranty, , instead of checking it for inspection. then iam left stranded in the road cause of this situation. i take the car back to the same dealer for repair and they say its the battery and starter, and now they saying pay it in this amount of time or my car will be towed away, .all that waste of money in repairs and me coming back and back, for me to have to pick up my car at a tow yard, cause they didnt want to take it in when i had my 2nd visit they, now my car is sitting in my car, i am still financing it, for a car that doesnt drive. and when i call a local mechanic he says my engine is blown up. and its not the battery and starter..i was young and it felt like i was being robbed.
My transmission turbo converter is going out and it-??s not even at 80,000 miles. Along with my doors don-??t fully shut on automatic shut. No crash or danger yet but being told it could put me and my family in a potential dangerous situation especially on the highway
The passenger sliding door stopped working and will not open or unlock manually. If there is an accident rear passengers will have to exit the vehicle through the driver side sliding door and/or the rear hatch. It appears to be the lock actuator and am waiting on the part to arrive for install to see if issue resolved.
