A dealership replaced this recalled part in March 1999, however this same part was defective and I replaced it in December 2000. My question, if this part was defective enough for a national recall and the replacement part failed, wouldn't that cost be the responsiblity of the maker? (Chrysler) I bought this car because of the warranty, but after only three years.....it's not turned out to be a very good investment. I'm a single mom, I don't know about cars. I do have routine maintainance done, but that's at the hands of others who are suppose to know what they are doing. I had difficult with allen samuel dealership, here in houston and needed someone I felt I could trust to do these repairs. Plus the mechanic I chose came highly recommended and could do the work at night. This vehicle is my only source of transportation to work. No safety defect found in summary.
Leaks fuel directly over engine, extremely dangereous! recall this also! this car also is our second Intrepid to have catastrophic transmission failure to be covered under warrenty. Also the second Intrepid we owned that dealers refuse to fix air conditioner leak, they only spray an anti fungicide on the evaporator coil.
Please refer to NHTSA campaign id #98V184000. My car was serviced under the resulting recall; fuel rail assembly was replaced in 1999. Now for the past several days I have smelled gas. Two independent garages stated that the fuel rail is leaking. I went to huffines Chrysler-Plymouth in plano, tx, who said the fuel injector O-rings were leaking and were not covered by the recall. Your online notice about the recall states that both the fuel rail and injector O-rings should be replaced free to vehicle owner. Huffines refused such service. This complaint is not only about safety but about a dealership who gave bad service and misled the customer. Thank you for your attention.
Fuel line leaking at fuel rail, R/R plenum and throttle body assembly, R/R fuel rail assembly found split O-ring causing consumer to smell gas and vehicle to stall. Nlm
Manufacturer's recall notice received concerning fuel injection system leakage. Called dealer on several occasions. Was informed by dealer that they do not have the tools or the parts-- to call back. Been four weeks, and still no results in getting recall honored.
The fuel rail and O-rings were replaced first, and I paided for the repair. After I picked up the car, on the way home, it leaked again. Called the dealer, and they came and picked up the car. When called on 12/23/1999, I was told the car was ready to be picked up, and that it was fixed at the Dodge dealer, due to a recall on the fuel rail, and O-rings. My big quisten is should I get my money back for the first repair?
Recall repair completed on the fuel injection system (98V-184), however after repair vehicle experienced engine fire due to possible repair failure. Mjs
