I am not able to open any doors except the driver door. The trunk will not open and Dodge did not build a manual key entry for this model. Also I have a starting problem the car stalls and won't start unless I put it in neutral or jiggle the gear up into drive and back into park. The car turns very slowly when making left hand turns and the engine revs up sometimes when it's trying to pick speed back up after a turn. The dealer told us it was the battery and we had them install a new one but the issue is still there. I've read several complaints about the same issue. Customers getting their batter, starters all the recalls updated because they were told those were the issues but was not as their issue still existed as do mine. I don't want to spend a fortune at the dealer until they find what the problem is. The manufacturer should know what the problem is from all the complaints being the same. I emailed them for suggestions of what they think it may be and they just said take it to the dealership.

I have a 2009 Dodge Journey that periodically will not start. Alternator, starter, and battery all fine. I have been reading that it may be a problem with the neutral safety switch and I am apparently not the only person this is happening too. This left me stranded on 7/1/17 and 7/3/17. Please address this issue!

My Dodge Journey has run great for a few years now it is having a hard time starting. I have already replaced the battery and several fuses with no luck. It also seems to loose power and have a loud tapping noise in the engine compartment when it is cold. I have taken in the car to my mechanic to get the tapping checked we change oil (even when it does not need it) and the noise will go a way. So in a summary, I ahve a no starting, phantom tapping noise Dodge joirney.

Car frequently doesn't start for long periods of time! next time I get it started, I'm taking it to a Dodge dealership to have it fixed once and for all (I think)! but the internet is full of complaints about this problem mainly for the 2009 and 2010 models! they haven't pinpointed exactly where that problem exists because the integrity of the whole electrical and starting system in these models is under question! unreliable starting systems could mean the difference between life and death in the winter, out in the country, when it's -35 C!

I purchased my Dodge Journey SXT 09-22-2016. On February 3, 2017, I drove about 5 miles (to my daughter's school then to my place of employment). I turned off my vehicle, began to exit the car and noticed it had light smoke coming from it. It bothered me seeing there was not reason (I.e. wasted fluids) and I just purchased the vehicle. I called my someone to inquire from them about the smoke, and the next thing I know, people are yelling at me to get out of the car!!! my side of the car was on fire (under the hood). The car was stationary in a private parking lot. The engine was not running. In fact, if if my car door wasn't open, I would not be typing this notice.

This is not the first time this has happened. My windshield wipers come on by themselves and will not turn off, had to remove fuse. As I was driving home from work they came on and wouldn't turn off. Then the turn signals, headlights, and dashboard lights stopped working. This car has a mind of its own and these work when they feel like it; meaning they come and go, working one second then not the next, then working again....usually they don't work and stop for a long period of time then eventually work again like nothing happened. This time I'm not so sure how long it is going to go on because it is worse and ongoing. I am finding just how dangerous it is not to be able to use turn signals, etc. I am unable to drive to work now because of the headlights! and now the rain is coming in and I am not going to be able to drive without headlights or wipers. There should be a recall on this - there are sooo many complaints! if something happens to me or my children or grandchildren there will be a lawsuit filed as there is no reason for this not to be recalled with all the complaints and danger it entails. Complaints I have read are about air bags not deploying, cars stalling in the middle of driving down the road, etc. This is totally absurd!!!!! and as bad as my car is getting these problems won't be far behind. I do not have the money to dole out for this being a single mom as it is a costly fix, which is exactly why they refuse to recall I am sure!!

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 14V373000 (electrical system, air bags) and 16V047000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact was given an appointment by the dealer while she was out of town. The contact stated that she was unable to keep the appointment and, when she came back, the ignition key did not work. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

2009 Dodge Journey - total intergrated power module ( fuse box) went in defect mode. It is located under the car hood near front driver side fender. Think of the tipm like a command center for all the electrical functions of your car. Want to turn on your wipers" that has to go through the tipm. Need the fuel pump to turn on after you turn the key" you'll have to run it through tipm first. My car engine turned off while on my street road. I had to manually turn off road. There was no traffic at the time. When I restarted car windshield wipers went on would not turn off. Low beam lights would not go off. No cluster lights ( fuel gauge, speedometer, battery, temp gauge, speed gauge, digital readouts etc) no heat or ac power, no blinkers. No emergency lights, no ac power converter. I could drive car but had no gauges that worked that left me in the blind. The following worked normal: Brake lights, radio and electric windows. Had auto mechanic scan it and found tipm was defected. This is dangerous everyone because if the tipm just decides to go defect your car will automatically stop and you will lose control of your control because the tipm shuts it down. I was lucky and just coasted off the road, but if one is on the road and heavy traffic you will crash and you and every one's life, health and well being is lethally in danger ( death) this Dodge Journey due to this defect must be recalled before someone dies. Does it take death for a recall" is it going to take a death and group law suit? the tipm is defective and must be recalled on 2009 Dodge Journeys and all other after that year. The tipm is defective. Recall or group law suit "

Car has been randomly not starting, most times it will start in neutral, have had car in shop repeatedly, can't find reason, problem is intermittent, ignition recall was done just prior to start ing isues beginning but I was told by dealert it was not a related issue had starter replaced in June, then had new battery put in, took car into dealer in Nov for drivers side airbag squib that had to be replaced by by dealer. Since that repair car car has drained battery 4 times. First time could not get it jumped put trickle charger on it for about 2 hours started right up, it died again charged it drove it around never shutting it off anywhere took it to mechanic, starter was good battery was good but low, so it was warranted out with brand new one. Car was fine for 4 days. Did not drive it for 2 days, now it will not start, and when I put battery charger on it, it clicks and chatters and tries to start on its own without the key in the ignition. It is new years day so nothing is open.

My 2009 Dodge SE Journey has had several problems including some under open recall, electrical recall. However my brakes are very bad, ABS light and brake light frequently come on and off. The brakes act as if I have no brakes or pressure, until they are half way down then they over engage causing the vehicle to suddenly stop or significantly slow at unsafe pace. I have contacted Chrysler there is no recall at this time. This is an unsafe vehicle all around and complete recall should be in effect. This problem has occurred since we purchased the vehicle and has not stopped.

"takata recall" my Dodge Journey was stationary, I tuned the key and my windshield wipers came on, they were in the "off" position but yet they are going back and fourth. None of my lights except the front and back are working, my dash is dimmed, and it sounds like my cars is ready to stall. Upon looking online, I see several complaints about this issue, but I'm not sure if it is a recall...this is a very big problem that needs to be corrected by Chrysler/Dodge! 2009 144,000 miles

The problem began around 2 years ago, the vehicle wont start when the ignition key is engaged. There aren't any clicks or cranking just silence. After 10, 15 or 20 minutes the vehicle starts after the attempt. This problem probably won't occur in the next number of starting but suddenly the same problem, it won't start. I live in northwest Illinois and in the fall and winter this happen more often than spring and summer but it occurs fewer times. I read on the internet that many owners complain about the same problem, some paid a lot of money to the dealership to fix the problem, but the dealerships some times replaced a lot of unnecessary parts and the problem wasn't solved. I contacted the in town Chrysler dealer right after the problem began.they weren't sure how exactly to solve the problem. They suggested trial and error process.I didn't wanted to spend a lot of unnecessary money, and the problem won't be solved. Last week the service advisor noted that possible solution but not guaranteed is to replace the starter connector as might be corroded in which I have suspicions, because doing this job takes a lot of time and of course big bill to the dealer. Someone will say it is business, but in this case isn't because it is Chrysler fault of making vehicle's with the same problem. It is a safety issue it could be about life and death sometimes. Imagine if some of this vehicles suddenly turn off on the railroad or in the middle of intersections, or a criminal is chasing a Dodge Journey patron and the patron wants to escape with his vehicle and the vehicle won't start that is death or catastrophic injury!!! I believe that you have a lot of the same complaint from current owners and you don't have a lot from people who will fix the problem by selling the vehicle, and someone else will became the lucky owner.this is a case for factory recall. Thank you

After the recall work was completed and we received new key fobs the car will randomly not start. We have taken it to our mechanic repeatedly and he has not been able to find the issue. He has jumpstarted it thinking battery was down, applied dielectric grease to connections, checked it with the computer and could find nothing wrong. Problem keeps recurring with the time and number of attempts increasing until, we have to keep car running on short errands and plan for alternate transportation when we have to go somewhere distant, in case it does not start for several hours. In addition the door locks, randomly fail to lock or unlock when using key fob, and also lock and unlock automatically when driving; warning lights randomly come on and go off, for things like low tire and check engine light but when checked or put on diagnostic computer there is nothing wrong. Warning lights come on when driving and stay on even after car is put on computer then shut off on their own sometimes after a few hours or days. All these started after recall and after reaching 100K miles, just got car back from mechanic after replacing battery last week. He is not sure what issues is but is going to replace a connection wire to see if it helps, because computer says its good. I see similar complaints saying car will start in neutral sometimes and I was told to try it. If it starts he said it may be a safety module, but cannot guarantee it is or will work. This has been happening for nearly 2 years with no resolution. Car is our only vehicle, and we follow all maintenance directions.
