The contact drove the vehicle to the local Auto Zone, where the vehicle was diagnosed and DTC: P0018 ( Camshaft/Crankshaft psoition sensor failure) was retrieved. The contact stated that a certified mechanic arrived and serviced the vehicle on the side of the road. The crankshaft was replaced, and the check engine warning light turned off. The failure recurred and the crankshaft was replaced four times. The check engine warning light then illuminated and remained illuminated despite the crankshaft replacement. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V907000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was unknown.
