Purchased my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 in 2005 and it already had a cracked dash. There were holes as large as a notebook in the dash and I am still finding pieces to the dash that are falling onto the floor. The crack goes from the passenger side airbag to the windshield and several holes as large as my fist on the drivers side.
2000 Dodge Ram 1500 truck, 5.9L, auto, single cab, slt. Dash is cracked and falling to pieces. Dodge denies any problems that would warrant them reimbursing me for the dash. I paid out of pocket for a new dash panel that I have to install. Windshield has always had a shade in it, and almost never have products such as armor all or other interior products been used on it. For the record, I also have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500, with a perfect dash. 98-01 Ram had the updated dashes that are the ones cracking on many people's vehicles.
The dashboard of my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab has cracked in half twice. The first time happened after the dealership replaced the air conditioning evaporator. I paid 50% of the cost with them to replace it with a new dashboard. This new dashboard has now cracked in two places and the instrument bezel is cracking as well. I have heard that this is very common with 1995-2003 Dodge Ram and it can cause electrical failures.
I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD quad cab model. Due to an apparent defect in the quality of the dash pieces, there are several major cracks running the total depth of my dash panel. Dodge will not replace the dash as a defect product which could cause safety issues.
2000 Dodge Ram.....cracks in dashboard have now joined and chunks have fallen in. Worried that this will impair airbag deployment. I purchased this truck new and cracks started about 3-4 years into ownership.
The dash board of my 2000 Dodge Ram pickup is falling apart. It now has huge holes in it everywhere exposing the interior of the dash components and systems. I have been to several local dealers who all say that they want nearly $1500 to replace the dash and that it is not a recalled item so I have to pay for it. There is definitely something wrong here!
The dashboards of our Dodge survey truck have failed and had to be replaced at our expense. Not only have the dashboards failed but the transmissions as well, and again replaced at our expense.
Dashboard crack on 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 series. Crack started small about 5 months ago and has now engulfed entire dash. Numerous cracks have developed unrelated to original crack. Dashboard is now ready to cave in. Cracks emanate over entire surface of dash from driver to passenger side.
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab sport model. It has a cracked dash. Inface, there are large holes exposing wiring. Chrysler says this in not a defect. And is not covered under warranty.
The dashboard of my 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 has at least 20 cracks in it with one large hole from pieces falling in. I understand that this has become a huge issue with Dodge owners, but daimer-Chrysler has done nothing to resolve the issue. I have not contacted a dealership local to me as I have seen all too often that owners are being rejected by them. Where is our protection as consumers?
I own a 2000 Dodge 1500 pick-up after about 4 years of ownership the dashboard developed a small crack at the passenger defroster vent. The crack increased in size until the top of the passenger dashboard was in many sections. This may cause a problem if the passenger air bag was deployed by sending flying pieces of dashboard out with the force of the air bag.
Complete collapse of plastic dashboard and gauge bezel. The top of the dashboard had so many stress cracks that there were no gaping holes in the top. It was possible to access all of the wiring through the top of the dashboard. This seemed to be a safety issue as there was no structural integrity to the dashboard now if the airbags deployed.
I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. In 2005 the dashboard started with some fine line cracks which have gotten longer and larger until this year. The dashboard has totally caved in and broken into several large pieces. My concern is with the area beneath the dashboard that was now exposed along with the condition of the dashboard. I have experienced a electrical problem of the truck, not starting. Like the battery was dead. I have replaced the battery at least twice and the starter and alternator professionally checked by 3 different mechanics trying to locate the problem. Also, we have tried to trace the system for a short. I was wondering if the caved in dashboard has exposed some wires to the elements. We live in Florida and try to amour all moisture the dashboard and use a sun screen for protection. At first I thought it might just be my Dodge truck, but my daughter has a 2001 Dodge 1500 and the dashboard started cracking for no reason. Is this a Dodge problem? I happened to catch a news story about this same problem and found that we are not alone, that this seemed to be a problem with the Dodge trucks along with potential electrical problems. You can contact scooper@local6.com for more information on the data he has collected concerning this issue. If would seem Dodge needed to look in to the problem.
I own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500, the dashboard was severly cracking, and had a few pieces break loose. Luckly the pieces didnt hit me. These cracks apeared about 3 yrs ago, and have gotten alot worse. I could find no solution but to replace the top part of the dashboard that was cracking at a cost of $850 installed.
