I've noticed on my low mileage 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 that the dash has been cracking and I bought a dash mat to cover the problem and now it is in horrible condition. I see that there are many people with this problem and I worry if I am ever in a wreck with a passenger that they are going be harmed by the large chunks of dash they are very sharp. I have taken great care of this pickup and there is no reason that this should be happening!
Cracks in dashboard on truck during accident dashboard that was cracked with loose pieces flew and cut my passenger most of the pieces were sharp and were loose prior to the accident.
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Noticed walking around my truck one day a crack in my dashboard starting at the windshield running to the driver compartment. A closer look revealed 5 more cracks. I didn't think it was old enough for this to happen but decided to go online to order a replacement dash. I was very surprised to find numerous complaints from other Dodge Ram owners having the same problem. A video of a news report from a Florida tv station is where I found out about this site. They urged any Ram owner with this problem to contact your site. I will most likely pay to have this fixed. My concern is that there was a defect in material from the vendor Dodge used for the dashboards and they will not own up to it. The news report made me have concerns about pieces of the dash falling in on the passenger airbag or causing electrical problems and possibly some safety issues.
Dashboard is cracked in several different locations, has a couple of very sharp pieces of plastic protruding from dash, could harm a passenger in the event of an accident. The truck was kept in excellent condition, armor all'ed and kept in a garage most of its life. There is currently a cover made out of a very light material to cover the defect, however, in the event of a serious accident the plastic could easily penetrate the cover and potentially severely harm a passenger.

Several years ago the dashboard began cracking in my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. The condition has continued to worsen as time goes by. Large pieces are falling down into the dash area and may cause shorting out or exposing wiring.
Cracked dashboard. No off road use or accident. Multiple cracks originating on passenger side on the front of dash between vent and windshield. Sharp, cracked plastic above the passenger air bag area.
Just filing this complaint of the Dodge Ram dash. It has fell to pieces, some of the pieces are football sized. If you type in Dodge Ram dash on google, you will find a ton of forums with people having the same problem. Talked to Dodge customer service and was told they could not help me with any thing. It seems with all the people having the same problem, it is a manufacture defect in the plastic. I have a 2001 Ram 1500 now with 91,000 miles. When I bought the truck it had 39,500 miles and a small crack in the dash. Now there is hardly a dash left. I just hope that a piece of plastic does not fall through and make the airbag deploy or not deploy when it should. Thanks, mad Dodge owner.
Dash board in 2001 Dodge Ram is completely falling apart. Started only 3 years after owning truck. This is completely ridiculous! truck has been pretty good other than dashboard, but I feel like Dodge needs to do a recall on these things.
2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 - dash has practically disintegrated - cracks and huge holes in the dashboard and sharp edges on the pieces that are left. Unsafe since electrical wiring and air bags are under dash. No recall has been issued as of yet.
I, like many others are experiencing cracked dash problems. I have had my 2000 Ram 1500 and now my 2001 Ram 1500 dashes crack and fall apart. The dealerships tell me that Dodge does not support repair or replacement of the dash. They no longer stock and back orders are ignored the dash and the instrument bezel that cracks over a short period of time. This is a safety issue as the 2000 truck was totaled in a wreck and I was injured by the dash debris and not the accident.
Dash is cracking in several places. One huge crack down the center, its basically in 2 pieces right now. Several other places, the dash is caving in, breaking into pieces and falling inside.
I along with other owners own a 2001 Dodge Ram truck that has the whole dash cracking and falling apart. The dealers/ Chrysler is of no help with this problem. This is an apparent defect in the material or the way the dashes were made.
Dash cap on 98 -2002 1500- 3500 Dodge trucks dash caps start cracking al over from left to right made out of plastic these are faulty and Dodge knows it or they would not stock them. And charge you $460 for that piece of plastic something should be done about it.
