Started cracking and then holes began to appear. Thedashboard on the 2001 Dodge Ram cracked and had large holes. Dodge will not replace the dashboard as it was only cosmetic, and was not a recall.
I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pick up truck and the dashboard began cracking 2 years ago. Heard a report on local 6 tv in orlando, and they recommended filing a complaint. Sure hope Dodge will stand good for what seemed to be a defect. Thanks.
Dashboard of my truck has large running crack with a second smaller one beginning. Truck is a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I have recently seen a report on television in which many trucks of the same make/model are having similar problems. Will there be a recall on the dashboards? this has been ongoing for several months. The crack has not stopped running ever since I have noticed it.
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. It is not driven very often, and has mostly been garaged or under a car port. About a year ago I noticed that the plastic bezel around the dashboard had started to crack, but I thought nothing of it, not long after that I noticed the dashboard was cracking, and now I havd some very big cracks in dashboard that looked like it might fall in. I recently found out that this seemed to be a defect in the 2001 Ram, and that it was common with this year Ram. I was wondering what could be done about it?
Dashboard cracking in multiple locations. No weight or undue exposure to light or heat preceded this. Truck has been housed in garage or carport for most of the years since buying it. Vehicle was bought brand new. When parked in parking lots a sun screen was used.
While driving heard a cracking noise and a piece of the dashboard fell down. Soon another piece dropped, and we lost the dashboard function. We had this repaired, and I had to tape the dashboard back together the best I could. This could have had a serious outcome. Had several other pieces drop, and I had tot ape it again. This was an ongoing problem that should be addressed.
The dashboard caved in on the 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 truck. It started out with cracking to eventually detioriating, and dangerous wires were exposed. It needed to be corrected. Now, the air conditioner (A/C ) only worked if I put a rug on top of the dashboard.
2001 Dodge Ram 1500, purchased new by my inlaws in Florida in 2001 and garage kept 80% of the time. I purchased the truck in November 2004 with 56000 miles on it. Drove it back to Virginia, where it was also garage kept. I noticed one small, about 1", crack in the dashboard on the passenger's side one month later. By April, several cracks formed all over the dashboard and around the air bag. I contacted the dealer, and they said there was nothing they could do because the vehicle was out of warranty, and gave me Chrysler 800 number which I called and filled a complaint, but that was all they woudl do. I could not afford the $1500 to replace the dashboard as I was still making payments on the vehicle. Once pieces of the dashboard started to fall out shortly, there after, I installed a dashc over, partially for the asthetics, but also because I was afraid of what the fragile crumbling dashboard would do in an accident, especially if the airbag went off. Flying shards of sharp plastic did not sound good to me.
Bought the truck used from dealership. Dashboard already slightly cracked. Previous owner said dash just started cracking on its own for no reason. This has been reported all over the country by people with the same year, make, and model. The dash just falls apart as a result of poor manufacturing. Electrical wiring is in danger of failing due to gaping hole in dash. Dodge needs to recall their mistake. Dodge would not pay for repairs and just id nothing.
1. driving down the road and the dashboard just split and it happened just after the warranty expired. 2. dashboard continuing to crack in different places and will eventually expose the wiring. 3. it is not covered under warranty
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup purchased brand new and to no fault of my own the dash board cracked and basically chunk's of plastic dash has actually fallen out. Now the speakers seem to be going possibly due to the dash having large holes in it and the heat being able to get to the wiring.
I own a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. I am complaining about my dash in my truck. It has been broken since 2003, it has been brought to my attention that I am not the only person suffering from this problem. Recently the dash lights would turn off then turn back on. Right now I will not drive my truck at night in fear that more lights will fail.
Dash on our 2001 Dodge Ram pick-up is shattered. Heard on a talk show that this is being reported in Florida. We have a friend with the same year model truck and it is beginning to do the same thing. Our truck has always been parked under a carport and has only 58,000 miles on it. We have heard that the dash will collapse and cause an accident.
Dodge 2001 Ram truck has a fracturing and collapsing dash, I have recently been made aware that there are many other people with the same model truck experiencing the same problem including headlights shutting of when alternating between highs and lows possibly caused by the pieces falling from the dash and interrupting the wiring.
