Stereo speakers have gone out one at a time. Driver side rear speaker is all that still works. According to a car stereo shop it is a wiring , or wire harness issue, and not the speakers. To fix they suggest rewiring the entire vehicle. This should not need to be done, if the factory built the stereo system correctly.

Speakers started sounding distorted and when I investigated I found the edges of the speakers had dry rotted. Of course the warranty was up so it was my problem. I have a 1994 Mitsubishi Diamante with the original speakers and the sound like they were just installed.

This damn wire has driven me nutz. The same wire has broken 3 times in different places in the door wire harness. It is cheap to fix but it can be hard to find the break sometimes. I am proficient with a volt meter and that is a big help. each time it has been the back door behind the driver door and it has been the white wire with a red stripe.
