When I turn on the heater the blend door and actuator make a popping sound when turned heat on, blend doors broken and actuator not working properly. It occurs while vehicle stationary and in motion when heat is turned on.
The entire dashboard has cracked in multiple places. This issue started in 2004 and has continued despite multiple attempts at finding a cause or a viable solution to stop the cracking. Noticed others have made the same complaint. Dodge did not attempt to fix or give a solution to fix the cracking. It now interferes with the air flow and causes windshield flow to be directed away from removing internal "fogging". now the blower will only operate at the highest speed.
My truck started this grinding sound an it just stop working so I had to put it in auto service jimmy's 2407 kaw St new orleans cell number 5044511533 he can explain it better.thanks
The dashboard on my 2002 Dodge Ram is literally disintegrating before my eyes. It has multiple cracks all over it. The vent cover under the windshield has also broken, and the small pieces that cover the defroster holes have broken and fallen down into the defroster so that when it is turned on high small pieces of plastic will fly up and hit you in the face. It's ridiculous that you have to put on safety glasses if you are going to run the defroster so that you don't risk having plastic pieces strike you in the eyes. Several of the dashboard cracks run completely from the front to the rear of the upper dashboard. This is a well known problem to Dodge, and I am baffled that this safety issue of failing dashboards is not being addressed and corrected. This has to be corrected and I feel Dodge should be held responsible and be made to fix this defect!

While driving the vehicle, the drive shaft came off and the rear end locked up. My 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 truck started to fish tail due to the rear end locking up before coming to a complete halt on a busy street. Luckily the car behind me was able to swerve around and avoid a terrible accident. The drive shaft twisted and tore into two pieces. This could have been very bad and could have been fatal. Dodge has a recall for this on 2005 models and newer but the 2002-2004 models of the Ram 1500 pick up should be included in this.
I purchased this vehichle in June of 2008 and noticed a minor crack on the dashboard and didn't think much of it, since then the both pieces of the dashboard have severely cracked and I am concerned that if I get in a crash and the airbags deploy that shards of the broken plastic dashboard will become projectiles and cause serious injury.
1) electrical problems. Lights kept going in and out 2) dash cracking and crumbling. Pieces falling into air vents and preventing windshield from defrosting! dangerous! could cause an accident. Dash is in such bad shape that if passenger air bag were to be deployed it could kill someone due to flying pieces of hard plastic all over the vehicle. Make Dodge recall this product! what are you waiting for? you already have thousands of complaints for this problem!
2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L sport. I paid a lot of money for this special order truck and now the dash is cracking all over"???? never had a new vehicle do this in all my 54 years. I live in Texas and I know it is hot, but it shouldn't be cracking like it is, none of my other cars or trucks are cracking at all, I take good care of all my vehicles so why is the Dodge the only one cracking"I think it should be recalled to get this fixed!!
Dashboard of my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 has fifteen cracks. The dash is in two parts. The part where the vents are is ready to either fall out or come completely out. There has been over three hundred complaints on autobeef. My concerns is the plastic is going to fall in and cause an electrical fire. Dodge will not do anything about it they keep telling me it's a warranty issue. It is a defect in their product. I'm so disappointed not only does it look bad but I just keep waiting for it to fall in on me when I'm driving. I have done nothing to cause this issue. I keep my truck clean and keep my windows cracked for air circulation. I always try to park my vehicle in the shade. I have tried two different times to see if Dodge will do anything about it but they won't. any assistance with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, concerned citizen
The dashboard has started cracking after the truck hit the 60,000 mile mark. There are now holes in portions of the dashboard, and the pieces have fallen down into the heater motor, and it has caused the doors on the heater to no longer open and close correctly, leaving the vehicle with no heat. We have contacted Dodge and they say that this is not a defect, and will not recall the defective piece, but there are numerous complaints about the same issue, and it seems to be common with the Dodge Ram. This problem is affecting the heat in the truck and issues with the defroster, and this is a safety issue that needs to be resolved.
My dashboard began cracking in the summer of 2005 and has continued to deteriorate to the point that it is collapsing in and creating electrical and safety issues.
I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. This truck has a big problem with the dash. The dash start cracking really bad. Dodge does not want to take responsibility to fix the problem. For a truck that is less then 10 years old that I paid 32,000 dollars for the dash should not be cracking. I believe Dodge so have a recall for the dashes because almost every ones Dodge Ram dash is cracked. I did a web search and every ones dash cracks in the same spot right over the air bag. The air bags in my truck have never been deployed. I am sure if this truck was ever in a wreck the air bag could get stuck in the crack and wont get deployed to save a life. Thanks Dodge
