Went to check my tire pressures and took valve stem cover off and it snapped the top of the valve stem off even with the top of the valve stem....2 other valve stem covers are also seized on the valve stems on the truck.. called dealer and they informed me that Dodge knows about this problem and they have replaced hundreds of them and the only way to replace them is to put another sensor in for 75 bucks cause they can not put regular valve stems in vehicles that have TPMS sensors in them...they have not heard of any recalls to date nor could I find any online...this is a obvious problem with many Dodge vehicles with this metal valve stem and needs to be corrected.

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 equipped with Goodyear Wrangler sr-a tires, size P265/70/R17. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the sidewall on the tires blew out. The contact pulled over and noticed that the tires were P rated instead of a light truck tire. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the tires were for passenger vehicles. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the contact needed to speak with the tire manufacturer. The contact called the tire manufacturer who told him to speak with the vehicle manufacturer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.

Premature tread wear, constant leaks due to rocks, side wall wear excessive. I was avoiding a deer and turned sharply. The tire came separated from the bead causing the truck to roll over causing $7000 dollars damage. These tires are a joke and should not be standard equipment on a 350 horse power 4X4 truck!

The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact has experienced issues with the vehicle ever since it was purchased. The headlights failed to produce the proper lighting to see at a distance. She purchased new bulbs that were installed at the dealer. In addition, the windshield wiper blade froze to the windshield and the vehicle would "jump" uncontrollably. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure and stated that the contact needed more experience driving the vehicle. She took the vehicle to the repair shop and the mechanic stated that the tires could cause the vehicle to "jump". the mechanic further stated that the ABS was located only in the rear of the vehicle; therefore, the stopping distance will increase. She informed the dealer of the mechanic's diagnosis and was advised to drive the vehicle a little longer to allow the suspension to loosen. The dealer stated that she needed to become familiar with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 120 and current mileage was 5,800.

Ram 1500

  • 25 miles
The contact owns a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The vehicle has Goodyear Wrangler hp tires, size P235/65R17. The vehicle has been handling poorly during all types of weather conditions. While driving 25 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the tires just skidded for approximately two feet and crashed into the preceding vehicle. The road conditions were dry. The contact was injured and the driver in the other vehicle sustained some neck bruising and pain. The contact believes that the tires are to blame for the crash, not the brakes. The failure usually occurs during any type of sudden stop. While driving above 18-20 mph, the tires will begin to skid. The dealer is unwilling to assist and the manufacturer has not been notified. The contact is a mechanic and believes that the tires are defective and should not have been placed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 25 and current mileage was 4,044.
