The 2.0 ecoboost engine 2017 Ford Edge Titanium coolant leaking into many places. White smoke coming from exhaust flooding into the streets I have been told the Long block issue as well. The vehicle was at an independent service center where it sat for over three weeks while they worked hard trying to find the issues. Finally they advised me to get a second opinion through Ford which I did for over $300 for the same inspection. They have given me an outrageous estimate of over $16,000 to repair the issues. This is a common issue with this particular engine. I have read numerous complaints since purchasing it. Ford needs to be held accountable for all these defective engines they have yet to recall these dangerous vehicles. My vehicle is currently sitting in storage because it is inoperable. I-??m still making loan payments on this defective vehicle. I have reached out to Ford many times for assistance and they have turned me away. I will soon have to file a Lawsuit against Ford if they do not come forward and resolve this issue. I will never ever purchase another Ford.
Started car and heard rattling noise. Took the car to shop and was told it was the flex plate. Called Ford to see if I could get it repaired under CSP 22n12 I was told I COULD NOT because I previously took my car to the Ford dealer because it was driving rough and making a sound so I took it in to see if it was the flex plate (another Ford dealer diagnosed it with the coolant intrusion issue) and because they said they inspected it and despite making no repairs the dealership closed the CSP 22N12 on my car. I called Ford Customer Service and was told I could file a complaint but there is nothing that they can do. First I had to deal with coolant intrusion and now the flex plate! I think it-??s horrible that the consumer has to keep being financially responsible for the flaws of this suv. Another defective part that I-??m left paying for and now my car has to just be parked until I can afford it.
Check engine light has been on and white smoke coming from exhaust and engine Been in for recall repairs several times. Steering wheel feels unstable when driving Suspension is unreliable. This is a very dangerous vehicle to be driving and needs to be recalled for these Known issues.
I took my Ford Edge in as the engine was making a loud rattling noise, i was told i had a cracked Flex plate and Ford will only cover half. I was NEVER notified of this recall and now i am in charge of paying 50% of a SAFETY issue because of Ford's mistake. I am now not able to drive my car advised by the mechanic because of this safety issue. This is a program by Ford and should be a recall. I should not be stuck paying 50% for something Ford messed up and am now not able to drive my vehicle as it was deemed unsafe. I also should not be paying 50% of something because Ford never legally notified me.
I bought my 2017 ford edge titanium last year back in dec of 2023. Well she had about 124k miles on it when i got it. Well theres almost 170 k miles on it now and i been very thorough with my maintenance. Transmission fluid, spark plus etc. Well im workin in tulsa one night and drop someone off and begin to hear this rattle noise. Well im an 1hr 30 mins away from hime so im prayin that i get back hime safely. Well i make it back. I take it to my mechanic and he said it sounds like your flex plate is bad or cracked. Well my understanding is other 2017 ford edges with my 2.0 engine and 6f35 transmission has a torque converter stud bolts weld problem recall. Apparently thats what could be causing my flex plate to crack all of a sudden. Just the only thing listed under my vin is a csp. To me if the torque conver weld stud bolts werent welded or tightened right at the factory i feel like that should be on fords end to cover the repair vs regular wear and tear. Like my way of explaining is say you borrow something from someone and you break it. They shouldnt be liable if its your mistake" True" I dont want no lawsuit. I just want ford to fix the issue with my car that their defect caused. Many blessings and Merry Christmas and thanks a million.
Brought car with 54k miles. Went to dealer 1 month before warranty ended. I was told there were specific problems which I fixed. I later went back a few months later and was told it-??s the battery. The Check engine light came back on a month later. I was told Coolant is leaking into the engine requiring you to need new engine. It-??s dangerous because car won-??t go over 20 mph. Even if you push gas you can-??t go faster. Smoke coming out of exhaust. Smell is toxic. There is no explanation as to why this happens.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated that upon depression of the brake pedal, an abnormal banging noise emitted from the vehicle without warning. The vehicle then began to hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal as fellow motorists assisted the contact by pushing the vehicle up an incline and into a parking lot. While in the parking lot, the contact restarted the vehicle and placed into reverse(R); however, the vehicle moved forward while in reverse(R). The contact restarted the vehicle for a second time and vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle. The contact was then referred to the manufacturer who also offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
1. The flex plate cracked, damaging the torque converter and its bolts as well as the transmission pump. Basically, the transmission failed. The car is available for inspection at the dealership repair department. 2. The car suddenly stopped while turning onto a busy road putting other drivers and my passenger in danger. 3. Problem confirmed by dealer repair department. 4. The Ford service department located the problem when they diagnosed it. 5. No warning light. Check engine came on when car stopped while entering a busy intersection but turned off when I restarted the car. No flashing check engine or other warning lights came on when the vehicle started showing some hesitation when switching gear and then began making increasing rattling and revving noises shortly thereafter.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Edge. The contact stated while driving at approximately 55 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the inside of the vehicle and the transmission was unintentionally downshifting. No warning light was illuminated. The VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V390000 (Power Train). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the Flex Wheel was cracked and needed to be replaced along with several other unknown parts. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
2.0 eco boost motor. Intrusion of coolant into the 1st and 2nd cylinder. Superior warranty and Ford company refuse to take any responsibility of this issue. It is a known issue and it has cost me $6624 and it is hard enough to have to buy 2nd hand car but 3 days after this issue arises. As is vehicle. Ford should be liable. 111k miles at time of repair. Started as fuel issues per Starks where bought car to spark plugs and coils to motor and fly wheel.
My 2017 Ford engine had a catastophic failure and required replacement. Sequence of events: January 8 2024, Check Engine light came on and at 99350, the spark plugs were replaced to correct. March 12 2024, Check Engine light came on again at 100900, the coils were replaced to correct. March 19 2024, Catastropic Engine light came while driving on interstate 75, the engine block cracked and was replaced. While replacing the engine it was noted that the Power Take Off Asy-s was also defective and needed replacement. As things progressed it was learned that Ford knew of an engine design failure but did not issue a recall. Fortunately the interste highway engine failure did not cause an accidentbut easily could have. I am currently asking Ford for reimbursement of the enging and Asy-s.
A check engine light appeared after a couple rough idle starts. I took it in to have the code read and it was a Cylinder 2 misfire. It was explained that it was not a big deal, just needed to replace spark plugs. I replaced spark plugs (car has 65K miles), picked the car back and the problem still existed. Took it back in with the same check engine code of Cylinder 2 misfire, this time the replaced a ignition coil. Picked it up and still had the same issue, and I took it back and they replaced the fuel injector. After the fuel injector was replaced, 2 days later I was driving it home still having the same exact issues of when I originally took it in rough, misfiring start the car over heated. I shut the car off and seen that I had zero coolant. I put coolant in the reservoir ( completely shocked because I had just had an oil change, and they didn't notice the coolant was low). The next morning I called the place I had been taking it and told them what happened and they were stumped. So, I called Ford told them the issues I was having, they said, they are 100% sure they know the issue( because it is a known issue with this year and make of vehicle) of what is wrong with it but to bring it in and they will run a diagnostic on it. With in an hour they said, that I had a coolant leak that was leaking behind the spark plugs and going out the exhaust causing the misfire and white smoke. To replace the motor will be $7K. I bought this car brand new, had the extended warranty and maintenance plan on the vehicle. It was kept in pristine condition and never missed a oil change or any recall. Then 6 months after the warranty is out, this issue began. Ford knows that this is an issue and they have a technical warning on it for the Ford edge and other vehicles. It is a unsafe to drive and not fair that I need to pair 7k for a new engine on a issue they know they have with this engine.
No warrants of issues when it happened was driving back home when my car started smoking then it drove for a little bit and then it would shoot up to gear 4 then back down and then it stopped.
My edge has been experiencing flex plate issues since 106,000 miles. It-??s considered a CSP through ford there is a recall but my specific car -??isn-??t affected-?? this needs to be recalled so I can get it fixed. If this cracks all the way it could cause a fatal accident and there would be law suits. This is a huge safety concern, and needs to be pushed further as my car has the same type of flex plate as the other edges that have been recalled.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that the transmission fluid was flushed and refilled. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission was recently replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Transmission started slipping in and out of gears and jerking in the middle of traffic, had happened multiple times. Have done research and seems it is happening to a lot of people.
