Edge SEL 2.0L V4

Car was bought for 86 yr old parents. Bought from a "reputable" dealership with the problem. Threw O2 sensor code 2 weeks after purchase. Blew the codes out and took 6 months to come back. 5K miles on a 90k vehicle and A3 Auto says purchase was as is. 7k repair bill on top of a 17k loan that i can't afford. Thank you America for this QUALITY product.

Edge Titanium 2.0L Turbo Ecoboost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,000 miles

2017 Ford Edge check engine light can on and running roughly only 47,000 miles. I checked fluids and had very low antifreeze. Took to Capital Ford where I bought it. Warranty expired 6 months earlier. They diagnosed cracked block. Had no choice but to repair. Capital Ford in Wilmington N.C. Charged me $7831.30. Lot of money for an old retired guy.

Edge Titanium 2.0L Eco Boost

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,000 miles

The 2.0 eco boost engine was manufactured with a defective engine block. The head gasket WILL leak coolant into the cylinders and cause an engine code of misfire on that cylinder. Ford knows this and issued a service letter 19-2346 stating the they recommend replacing the engine when this occurs. Replacing the head gasket will not fix the problem as it is the poorly manufactured engine block that cannot be fixed. Ford has not stepped up to the plate and issued a recall because no one has died as a result of this problem. A class action law suit is going to be the only resolution to the situation. My advice is don’t buy this vehicle in the years from 2016-2018. If you have one get rid of it before you have to spend $6,000 on a new engine.

Edge

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I purchased a 2017 ford edge from Jacksonville used car dealership. It had 45,000, after several other issues & having the vehicle for a little over a year my Check engine light came on.

Vehicle started making this gurgling water sound then that sound turned into gushing running water sound by/under my stirring wheel when I started the car & continued the entire time driving the car.

Then my the car cooling system started alerting me to the coolant system over heating. Vehicle reducing power to cool off engine... End result was cracked head gaskets, which will lead to a blown motor.

I've had 3 Vehicle inspections/quotes. • Ford Auto mall in Daytona Beach said only option is... Replace the engine or purchase a new car costing me 5,700 to replace engine; • JDA repair, mobile mechanic said the engine can be rebuilt by rebuilding the head gaskets. 3,500-4,500, could be more. • Ormond auto clinic, said head gaskets need to be replaced & starting at $3,000 but could be more once they start the repairs.

In the meantime, I'm paying $400 a month payments plus insurance for a car that doesn't WORK & now will cost several thousands of dollars to fix/repair leaving me without a vehicle, still making payments.

Not sure what to do at this point.

Update from Jun 7, 2021: ONLY SOLUTION IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE MOTOR COSTING 5700.

Edge Eco

  • Automatic transmission
  • 35,920 miles

I guess I'm lucky because they replaced the engine under warranty. However, when I picked up my car, I had a cracked windshield which was not there when I took it in. We're going round and round (they say it was there already). I asked for proof.

My check engine light had come on with a message about the coolant over engine temp. Then the car downshifted to save power.

Edge SEL 2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

So much for built ford tough! My edge is 2 years old and I have a cracked head. Now it needs a new engine!! This is crazy, I don't have the money to pay for that. So now I have that to pay for (which I cannot afford) a car payment, and no car to use!!!! I realize I have high mileage on it but 68,000 should not have a cracked head!!!! most of those miles are highway and I am good with my oil changes and making sure my fluids are good. I even had the transmission fluid changed and that was 200 because there is no way to check it. I love my Edge but this needing a new engine on car car that doesn't even have 100,000 miles and is only 2 years old is crazy!!!!!
