2019 Ford Edge Titanium 2.0 4cyl AWD - Transmission issue (2019 - 2021). Awful! A known design problem by Ford but they refuse to fix it (Mine failed at 89,000 miles). The torque converter will eventually fail and the repair cost is generally between $5000 - $8000, depending on any damage to the transmission. Ford dealerships will try everything to "fix" the issue (updating software, flushing, etc), if still under warranty, but will wait until it expires, then say it's the torque converter and say it's not covered. AVOID THIS SUV AT ALL COSTS!! I regret buying it. GARBAGE!!

FYI - no reported issues with the 6 cyl model with the different transmission.

Crap - 8-Speed Automatic (8F35). Paired with the standard 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine (WILL FAIL!)

Good - 8-Speed Automatic (8F57). Heavy-duty 8-speed designed for higher torque, paired exclusively with the performance 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine found in the Edge ST. (No reported issues).

While away for vacation the vehicle started jerking forward during acceleration between 20 klm per and 60klm per hr. once over the 60 klm per hr. It seemed ok until you got up to 100plus klm per hr. I noticed the tachometer was jumping up and down not normal. When I returned it to my dealer for answers they did a reprogram of the shifting for the transmission it did not work took it back did more testing this time they knew it was the torque converter Wow at only 65000 klm. Anyhow I have a great dealership they provided a vehicle to drive while it was being repaired I now have it back and the result is 100% hopefully that’s the end of my Ford Edge problems fingers crossed.

New car stopped in the middle of a red light 3 times doing to the dealer. Dealer said we can't take a look at it until 3 weeks. I live in Michigan and this happen in Indiana. The dealer said to find a way to get home, they didn't give me a retail car or nothing.

I purchased a 2019 Edge ST and it's already been to the dealership twice. Neither of which they have confirmed anything (on paper). My transmission gets to 3rd gear then comes out of gear, continuing to rev, before finally kicking over to 4th gear after a couple of seconds. Same gear, every time. First time I took it in, they said the tech couldn't duplicate it, so I took him for a drive. He saw what it was doing but because his little laptop didn't show anything, he wrote on the work order he couldn't confirm the issue. They cleared the adaptive learning it apparently has and all was fine for a couple of weeks. Then, same gear, same issue. Took it back. Same response - can't confirm and it's not throwing a code soooo...here I sit. Also, there have been a handful of times where I'm slowing to a stop, like pulling in to a parking spot or a stop sign, and the transmission doesn't seem to know what it should do so it jumps forward.

Update from Aug 8, 2019: Ford finally recognized the issue (apparently it was more known than my dealer was aware) and put out a TSB. A flash was performed and the car has been running fine. It still has the random jerking when slowing to a stop at slow speeds and very rarely will make the clunk when switching in to gear (P to R or P to D) and Ford has issued a notice that they are working on that.
