Bottom inside of both rear wheel hubs, peeling and a lot of rust. Paint starting to lift on the outside of vehicle. It seems to be a real quality problem, either primer missing or low quality steel. Have rust proofed all my vehciles at least every other year and no issues with my 2004 Freestar and 2006 Fusion.

It seems to be occurring on all Escapes when Ford changed over the model year in 2008 up to to 2012. Recently visited local dealer and 6 of the 8 Escapes in the lot had this issue. The dealership I purchased the car from indicated that they have received reports, but notice of recalls. I contacted Ford 's Customer Service department 1-888-222-7814 and filed my issue. They transferred me to Ford Canada head quarters, 1-800-565-3673 and discuussed the issue. I understand the Corrosion Warranty is out of date. If we repair, will need to keep a receipt if case a recall is issued for reimbusrements.

After less than a year after owning the Ford Escape '08 the rear wheel-well paint started peeling.

Ford claims since this isn't rust perforation they would not fix it under warranty.

This is my last ford ever!

I TOO AM DISAPPOINTED THAT FORD WILL NOT CONSIDER ANY SUPPORT TO REPAIR THE PAINT DEGRADATION ON BOTH REAR WHEEL FENDERS. THE PAINT IS PEELING IN EXACTLY THE SAME SPOT ON BOTH SIDES ... NOT A COINCIDENCE. EVERYONE SHOULD CONTINUE TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY IF WE ARE GOING TO INSPIRE ANY ACTION ON THEIR PART.

The paint above both rear wheel wells is peeling off and rusting! I take great care of my vehicle, was it every week and sometimes twice a week. It is hand waxed.......the paint job on this vehicle is so crappy and so thin that you can scrape it off with your fingernails!! Ridiculous! Really? A four year old well maintained vehicle rusting without any trauma to the car? Guess you get what you pay for.

Paint peeling from trim piece between front and back doors on each side of car. Dealer said it was a random occurrence and was not covered under the warranty or considered a defect. It was obvious that the metal was not prepared properly before being painted. Appeared to be stainless steel since it has not rusted after becoming exposed metal.

I've noticed on several ford escapes that the paint is peeling in the wheel wells of the back tires!! It's happening to me to and I'm not happy about it! It is coming off in flakes so it has nothing to do with stone chips. Ford Canada and my dealer don't want to do anything to fix the problem. The rust will begin to appear in a couple of months if I don't do something.

I hope one day that Ford will stand by his name as a good builder...but it' doesn't seems that way. It's my 7th Ford and it's my last because I can't understand that Ford is doing nothing for his customers. How many people are there with Fords that have paint flaking off?

I've noticed on several ford escapes that the paint is peeling in the wheel wells of the back tires!! What a pain in the ass this is cause it's happening to me to!! It's an eye sore !!! The dealership said to repaint the wheel wells at maaco and get mudflaps and that should resolve the issue! NO!!! What will resolve the issue is if Ford can stand by their name as a built Ford Tough company and get off their high horses and resolve the issue considering its happening to many of their customers!! I noticed the paint peeling on the door trim of someones Escape and seriously if that crap happened to me now I would seriously go right to the head office and file a formal dispute!! Vehicles should be built to last!! Not this plastic sh*t and sh*tty paint jobs!!

My daughter saved her hard earned money to purchase a 2008 Ford Escape. It has been an excellent car other than the paint that is peeling off the door trim panels. It has been a continuing point of embarrassment to her to have finally purchased a nice car only to have the paint peeling off in such a conspicuous area. Last time we had the car serviced, Ford said there is no recall and she would have to pay to have it painted. It is embarrassing to her and it should be an embarrassment to FORD. We have been a Ford family for 45 years. Maybe it is time to change to Chevy.

The same, the black paint that is around the front and rear windows is giving trouble to me. It has lost a lot of the paint and revealing a silver-metal color behind the black paint. No warranty, just have to repaint again that zone.

The paint has started to peel up under the wheel wells of both rear tire areas. It is coming off in flakes so it has nothing to do with stone chips. I've turned in the information to the dealer and they took the miles and pictures, but said it was stone chipping and the company probably won't pay for it because it is off warranty. I've always had a Honda and I had over 185,000 miles on it and not a paint chip or flake. I've had this 2008 only for about 6 months and now it is flaking off. I've never had a Ford before. How many other people are there with Fords that have paint flaking off?

Same as the others. Bought this vehicle brand new in 2008, liked the vehicle but have had too many problems with it. From the transmission blowing up, to rear axle noises to now the paint peeling. The paint on the roof of my Escape is peeling now in 5 different places.

Since these pics were taken, the paint has peeled off more significantly and in new places on the roof. Will trade this for a Japanese SUV asap. Fed up with Ford, which is a shame because we were about to buy an Edge Sport and trade this in for the new Explorer. Sorry Ford, unless you fix this for free, I'm off and taking my money with me. Will also contact the BBB and various news/media organizations.

folks, apparently there is a problem with these vehicles. Ford is just too cheap to help people with their problems. I have a 2008 ford escape and the paint on the rear bumper is coming off and the paint in the drivers side rear wheel well has peeled off to the bare metal which now is rusting. I bought this car used in October with 37k its now February and i am encountering these problems. I had spoken with a Ford rep and alls he said was no warranty no help. I have owned many Fords in my 15 year driving time but that doesn't matter to them. I asked the Ford rep if there had been any other complaints like mine and he said no. I contacted the B.B.B and the lady will send me the papers to fill out and complete for my case, I suggest you all do the same. I was going to just let it go but i cant afford to pay for a paint job on a vehicle that just turned 3 years old. I got the number from my owners manual if you don't have yours here is the number 1-800-955-5100 this is the B.B.B number.

People don't let the Ford Motor Company get off that easy. They should stand by their products just like i supported them over the years purchasing their vehicles. thank you God Bless and good luck

The paint on the hood is peeling on the front edge and under the edge all the way from left to right. Contacted Ford Dealer. Got the run around so far. Waiting for a Ford representative who might come maybe in a month to look at it. I can use my fingernail to just peel the paint off. It is not sticking to the metal.
