Paint started peeling around front windshield. Contacted local dealership after researching and discovering multiple reports of this happening on the internet. They refuse to help. I have reported this to multiple agencies including Ford. No results.

Ford Co. refuses to take ownership of this problem. It is clearly a manufacturing screw up!!! They are trying to tell me that it could be weather related if I live in an area where there is extreme heat!! WTF, Seriously! Oh did I buy a car that was not made for Texas!!! I didn't know that they make vehicles for certain climates.

I have had cars that were older than 15 years and not one of them ever peeled because I live in Texas! What a bunch of crap FORD!!!

Toyota had the same problem and had issued a recall, December 4, 2019. They owned up to their mistakes.

Ford Co. won't stand by their Factory mistake. My car was not even 5 years old and paint peeling. Where is it going to stop? I am mad and I won't stop posting or calling out Ford Co. over this issue! Until I see a recall on this!!!

OWN UP TO IT FORD CO.

paint peel around windshield

I have worded for Ford for 18 plus years. I originally like the vehicle so I leased it for 2 1/2 years. Liked it so much I decided to buy it out for the lease. At that time I also purchased a Premium Care warranty. I went to get into my vehicle after a grocery shopping trip and noticed the paint was peeling and lifting off of the metal of the vehicle around the windshield and starting on the roof area. I contacted the body shop of the dealer that I used to work for and they told me that they did not believe it would be covered under warranty but they will check into it and let me know. The body shop manager told me he had seen this issue before. They did tell me that it was not going to be covered and if I wanted to try and file an exception claim I needed to call Ford customer service.

I called Ford customer service explained the issue gave them the year make model Vin and original in-service date they told me it was out of the 36 months 36,000 mile warranty so they were not going to cover it. I stated to them exactly what the body shop manager told me about seeing the issue before they said they would look into it. They did call me back later and said since they couldn’t find anything on record with my Vin in the system as it being a recall or a campaign that I was out of luck and I wasn’t going to get any help from them. They did tell me I could write to Ford and file another complaint and see if I could get help that way. And they also gave me the Better Business Bureau number. I did call the Better Business Bureau today and filed a complaint with them. I guess now it’s a waiting game to see if anybody’s going to help with this issue. I would just like everyone to know that there are complaints on the Internet about the same issue and apparently Ford is doing nothing for anybody when it comes to this unless it happens during the three-year 36,000 mile factory warranty. Since it is not a corrosion issue they say they’re not covering it.

I am now beginning to understand why Ford is getting a bad reputation in the service industry.

I have pictures on phone but can't download them. This was is what I chose for a retirement vehicle.

Now, the Ford dealership down in New Bern, NC will only give me 50% to fix. When it has been established to be a manufacturing defect. They were advised of previous problem. They were not very forthcoming with information. Ford doesn't put it in writing to customers. I am afraid after I get this done that the roof will start peeling?

I just want to inform individuals. Body shop I went to said they have had 3 other 2018 Ford Escapes in different colors come in. Also had the back window paint peel issues.

Sincerely yours,

Vicki Pfeifer
