Left front door spot welds have failed - known issue with these Escapes and no recall has been made. Ford-??s solution is to replace the door and check arm assembly to the tune of way too much money. Door makes loud creaking sound when opening door.
right side driver door hinge is making noise when opened. It is beginning to not unlock when i am entering car. i have to go to passenger side to unlock. I am unable to operate window (up/down) fully. I have taken this to dealer and have been told by their body department that this is an issue that they have seen in on other escapes. Have been advised to not put window down. They are looking into this and will call me but have heard nothing since - 3 weeks. I am afraid that this door will break loose or that I will be unable to get into my car and be stranded somewhere. I am unable to get this fixed and obviously can't trade it as it is a known issue and dangerous. PLEASE RECALL THIS AND HAVE FORD OFFER TEMPORARY VEHICLES UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. i AM A [XXX] LADY WITH NO SAFE TRANSPORTATION! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Window started going down when requested and stopped halfway down - it would not go back up. Upon inspection it was found the door check had broken loose from the welds and shorted out the harness to cause the window to actuate.

The driver side door started making a loud click on Saturday 10-14-2023. By Monday the 16th I could not open the window. I took it to the Ford dealership and when the service tech tried to close the door it would not close.
Drivers side door started 2 days prior with cracking noise, difficult to close and two days later drivers side door is sagging, unable to open or close and window does not work.
Driver door starting making a noise and had trouble closing. And then the window wouldn-??t go down all the way. Took it to the dealership and they said that the spot welds failed in the door.
The driver's side door is making noise upon opening and closing. It is also getting progressively more difficult to get it to close securely. The Ford dealership took pictures and submitted the issue to Ford but today, October 18, 2023, Ford has refused to cover the cost to repair the door. Info sent to Ford is attached. I purchased this new 2020 Ford Escape on March 31, 2021. It has not been in any type of accident. I couldn't believe the door was defective so I googled it and found many articles on the potential recall due to the incorrect spot welds in the door. I went to the dealer and was told that unless there is a recall, chances are this won't be covered because I have 50,000 miles on the odometer. I drive to Florida, and make lots of long highway trips in my retirement so these are mainly highway miles. I'd like to take the car again to Florida in January with my wife, daughter and two grandchildren but I can't do that with the door like it is. I'd like your office to call Bill Brown Ford in Livonia, Michigan, where we purchased the car or Ford Motor Company and encourage them to stand behind their product and provide the cost of this repair. I am, frankly, amazed that they are not going to make this problem right since it is the result of their faulty workmanship. Please look into this for me. Thank you.
The left front door spot welds broke. Car is under 40,000 miles. This is NOT a high usage fleet vehicle, but a personal vehicle. Safety issue: The door does not open properly. I can no longer get into or out of the car through the left driver door. In an emergency, it may be impossible to exit the vehicle quickly. The door does not close properly to lock it. The repair will cost thousands; to replace the entire door and check arm. The local Ford dealer and an auto body repair shop have confirmed the problem. The Ford Dealership told me that this was a known issue. No prior warning symptoms. Opened the door one day and it broke.
Driver's door, left front, check strap broke at weld inside of door. Door pops real loud when you open it. The door came open today driving down the road I couldn't get it to shut.
The vehicle's driver's door malfunctioned. It is available for inspection, but I paid to fix it earlier this week out of my pocket. It was confirmed by an auto body repair shop.It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives. There was no warning lamps' messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The first time it occurred was early last year. It was fixed under the warranty manufacturer twice. The last time it was a week ago, but it was outside the warranty when that occurred. So I paid to fix.
It started with a creaking sound in the drivers door. Then three days later the door became very difficult to close. Took the car to the dealer service department and was told it has a broken spot weld failure that causes the door to be difficult to close and and the window to nor open fully. It is my understanding that this is a known safety problem with other vehicles reporting the same issue. My vehicle has only 18472 miles on it and is 3 years, 3 months old, so no longer covered by the warranty.
The driver's side door has a broke weld - there is an issue that it will not open and close correctly. Also due to the issue the window can not be rolled down which can causes visibility issues when rain or fog conditions are present. The door can sometimes be latched closed and other times will unlatch on its own. I tried to resolve with Ford but they indicate it is a known issue and will not cover the repair, leaving me to not be able to afford the repair but still in need of using the vehicle.
from online research, seems to be a common problem with the ford escape. while in normal use the front driver side door check rod failed. the door was very difficult to open after the failure and now no longer closes
