Consumer's vehicle was a part of the recall for Ford Expedition fires. However, he was told that he would have to wait for sometime before the repairs could be done. Consumer feels as thought this is not unacceptable.
After traveling approximately 10 miles we parked our 2001 Expedition in the car port and went to bed. Approximately one hour we woke up with our house on fire at the West end where the car port is located. Investigators and fire inspectors determined the fire originated from the Expedition but due to the extent of damage could not determine the exact location the fire started other than in the engine compartment. The fire resulted in a total loss of the vehicle, house, belongings, and severe burn to one family members arm and extensive damage to another vehicle parked close by. The Ford part number for recently recalled cruise control switches is the same as the one on my Expedition and was changed for the 2002 models.
Recall campaign for Ford cruise control deactivation. The consumer waned to know if the 2001 Ford Expedition vehicles would be recalled, because he knew at least 2 had caught on fire. The consumer did not state that one of the vehicles was his. Recall305V017000
