Is there a class-action lawsuit against Ford for their aluminum corrosion on rear deck lids and hoods?

The corrosion continues to spread, now to the front. The quote for replacing (cheaper than repairing) is $2,800 for the rear deck. Fixing won't solve, as it will continue to corrode. Replacement is the only solution. If I was to try to sell my Expedition, I would lose many thou$ands of $$.

I took this in early, they said since it was not "rust through", they would do nothing. Unreal. I have owned since new in 2005, only have 125k miles.

Ford needs to own-up to their errors and repair this, especially for original owners.

Now the front hood is starting. It won't stop. I will eventually be forced to replace both these very expensive panels.

Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.7L Triton

  • Manual transmission
  • 29,010 miles

We purchased our Ford Expedition - Eddie Bauer on 10 Feb 2005 and noticed that the paint started to bubble on the Lift Gate and Hood in 2011-2012 timeframe. After further evaluation, noticed that the paint was bubbling on the interior skin of both the Lift Gate and the Hood which required replacement of both. I have owned numerous cars and never experienced an issue such with bubbling paint, corrosion, etc. I will never purchase another Ford again and will discourage anyone else from doing the same.

Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L 3v V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 25,000 miles

I took my 2005 Expedition with 25000 miles at the time. into ford in 2009 to have hood corrosion looked at after being told by a reputable body shop that ford has covered the repair in the past. I was told by the service technician that the issue is not covered. It is now 2016 with 59000 miles and the peeling and bubbling is ridiculous. I am going to try another dealership and see if they will cover it.

Not sure when it started bubbling but had significant bubbling when we bought at 105k and has gotten progressively worse til now (134k). This is a widespread problem that Ford needs to address. I've seen this complaint as far back as 2003 and up til at least 2010. How can they just keep pumping out vehicles with this known defect??

The paint is bubbling on the hood and hatchback. Every 2005 Expedition I see has the same problem. I have seen this problem even on a 2013 Expedition.

The metal under the paint appears to be corroding. I understand this is a problem FORD has recognized but done nothing about.

I admit to being one of the top 2 Ford bigots in the world. There is no excuse for Ford to not make good on a mistake they admit to. I am not proud for people to see the blemishes and Ford should not be either. An otherwise attractive paint job is ruined by poor prep of the hood and tailgate.

would not recommend anyone to buy a ford I feel the 2005 ford expedition should have been recall to many problems with that year suv I've always kept it service and still had major problems and still experiencing problems that are very costly ford has to do better if they want people to buy their vehicles I'm beginning to believe what the word ford means found on the road dead

Ford dealer wouldn't get off his butt to even look at it. Ford Motors customer relations. Ford needs to intervview their employees to be sure the can understand English when hiring them. "Annie" just keeps asking for you to repeat the same thing over and over and over and over because she is either to dense to understand "paint bubbling" or needs to have learned English when arriving in this country and going to work. The other thing maybe Ford just trains them to act dumb so that the customer will get ticked off and go away. That is what I will do if this is not resolved. Another dealer will like our buying power. If companies don't take care of their customers the customers go elsewhere.

THE PAINT IS BLISTERING OFF OF OUR 2005 FORD EXPEDITION.

I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY BOTH REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE WAS WASHED TWICE A MONTH AND KEPT VERY CLEAN. FORD TELLS ME THAT SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN BUY AMERICAN PERSON BUT THIS REALLY CHANGE MY OUT LOOK ON AMERICAN PRODUCTS. FURTHERMORE I HOPE FORD DOES GO BROKE BECAUSE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DO NOT DESERVE A FAULTY PRODUCT. MY PAINT PROBLEM IS VERY SMALL TO THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ. I JUST WANTED TO ADD TO THE COMPLAINTS ON FORD.
