Expedition Limited 5.4L V8

We were in stop and go traffic at the beach. The engine shut off 4 times over the coarse of a week. It instantly started back up. When I was reading about the 2006 Expedition that was shutting off while people were driving at speed and the steering locked up (I never tried to steer when it died), it made me realize how fortunate we were that it only occurred when we were in stop and go traffic. Our mechanic didn't know what it was at first but was finally able to fix it for about $250. That happened in 2007 with 54,000 miles on the odometer. We still have the car in 2014 with 171,000 miles on it and it has never occurred again.

In the middle of the night I had to stop the car in one place that I didn't have light just the cars that passing in the same road. Stop looking the manual to see what I have to do? Wait like 20 min without leaving the car because I was alone and then tried to put engine on and driving so slow to my home.

It shut down once before while I was driving. I turned it off, and was able to get it running again. I took it to a mechanic who cleaned the throttle body. A week later, I went out to start the truck, and it wouldn't start. I shut it off, and tried to start it again with no luck. I unhooked the battery for a couple of minutes to try to clear the computer, but that didn't work either. Ford really needs to step up and fix this dangerous problem.

My Expedition engine locked up why? Don't know..Always had the oil changed when supposed to. It's very strange to have this happen. I know over a month ago. My engine safe mode light came on, so we took it by Auto Zone to have it checked. It came up something to do with the throttle body. Days after that, the engine wouldn't turn over. Didn't have time to even get it to the mechanic. If we had known the engine would lock up, maybe we would have flown it there. I most certainly hope this isn't caused by a defective part, because it sure sounds like it. I need answers...about this! Bought new in 2005.

Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L V8

This problem happen once last year and I didn't really pay it any attention. When I was dropping my child off at school, I push the gas peddle to go and it wouldn't go, and I held up traffic for about 30 minutes until someone came to push me out the way. Again, this year within 5 days it has happened 3 times, once at the school again, and on the way from getting something to eat. Took it to Auto Zone to have it checked and it says Binding throttle body-Stuck closed/Defective APP sensor. It's strange because you don't know when this event will happen or take place. I have to take my son to school in the morning and it's bothering me because I don't know if it will happen while I'm driving and I will have no where to pull off the road. This problem should have been recalled and taking care of because it can happen to someone while they're driving in the middle of the highway, and another car can hit them. I think Ford should do a recall.

I have had the engine fail safe mode come on again. It happened last week, and again this week. Prior to that, it had not happened for a while. Need to know what is going on. It is scary, fortunatly we were able to pull over and not cause an accident.
