Expedition ES 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 107,000 miles

Extremely annoying, it seems like the transmission will fall out of the car. Can't trust the vehicle for a family out of state trip. From second to third shift it gives a hard bump. Other changes go normal.

Expedition Eddie Bauer 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,500 miles

Started getting erratic shifting. When it got worse went to dealer (Bob Edwards Walhalla, SS) diagnosed as leaking torque converter due to bad weld. Cost was outrageous and of course not covered on any warranty. Bit the bullet because this is our tow vehicle.

Expedition XLT 5.8L

  • Automatic transmission

MY FORD 2006 EXPEDITION RAN PERFECTLY WHEN I FIRST GOT IT FROM A STATE AUCTION. I LOVED IT, DROVE LIKE NEW MONEY. TWO MONTHS LATER IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 40 MPH AND THEN IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 60 MPH. THE SCAN CODE SAID TO CHANGE THE CAM SENSOR. I DID. STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW IT SAYS TO CHANGE THE CAM PHASER SENSOR. I DID. NOTHING CHANGED. EVERY SHOP REFUSES TO WORK ON IT. SAYS IT'S ALWAYS MORE THAN THE CUSTOMER IS WILLING TO PAY ONCE THEY GET INTO THE ENGINE OR PROBLEM. SO I HAVE TO TRY TO FIX IT MY SELF. I AM 61 AND A OLD MECHANIC WHO FINISH MECHANIC TRADE SCHOOL 30 YEARS AGO. I AM LOST. AC STOPPED WORKING THE SAME TIME THE VEHICLE STARTED ACTING UP. EVERYTHING I FIX DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN I REALIZED WHAT MY PROBLEM WAS, I BOUGHT A FORD.

Expedition Limited 5.4L Triton V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,000 miles

So I am the second owner of this truck. I put my complaint on here, but bought the truck confident in the transmission, as the previous owner had documentation, from a Ford dealer, showing they had paid $2200 for a rebuild on the original transmission at about 67,000 miles.

After owning it a few months, there was hesitation while shifting, hard shifting, and overall, just poor performance from the transmission. Dropped the pan and saw that the filter was completely plugged with metal shavings and debris (it looked like they never flushed all the junk out from the rebuild). The entire system was flushed and refilled twice to run everything through it, and get all the junk out. A new filter was put on, and the entire system was filled with fresh fluid. Even after a complete cleaning, there is still hesitation and rough shifting from 3rd into 4th. With a complete rebuild, and less than 100K on the truck, continuous transmission issues are beyond frustrating, especially when it will be $3000-$4000 for a new one.

Expedition XLT 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

my big p.o.s s.u.v will not shift into the proper gear while at about 1700-2000 rpms regular city driving. have to take the o/d off but that causes the vehicle to go out of gear drop down to idle until i coast to a safe area to put the truck into park and re-start. I do not understand why this is happening.
