EVERY TIME I SEE A LATE MODEL EXPEDITION, I LOOK FOR THE PAINT BUBBLES ON THE TAILGATE AND HOOD. I AM NO LONGER SURPRISED AT WHAT I SEE. I WOULD ESTIMATE 95% OF THEM HAVE THE SAME PAINT PROBLEMS. FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

Ford knows there was an issue with contaminated paint and a reaction with the Zinc tailgate and hood on the Ford Expedition. Its is not rust it is a reaction between the paint and the zinc material the hood and tailgate are made with. It makes your paint bubble with a white residue when the paint finally does fall off. Its is not a rust though so warranty does not cover it and of course they will fix it if you are willing to pay $$ even though it is a defect from the day the vehicle as produced. My Ford sits under a carport so the Sun and rain are not a factor. What a shame because the rest of my Expedition looks really good and I keep it detailed but this is a blemish that make the vehicle look bad. Very disappointed in Ford over this issue.

Bubbling paint on tailgate:

There is one location on the tailgate where the paint is bubbling (above the license plate area). It looks like rust is under the paint although the paint has not chipped.

I understand from reading customer complaints, this is a common problem with the Ford Expedition. Ford is well- aware of this issue but will not fix it. Go figure!

I've owned Fords my entire life but can guarantee my next vehicle will NOT be a Ford! Ford's numerous issues are a good way to lose a loyal customer; I have also spread the word of their lousy products to my family& friends. Word of mouth is sometimes the best form of "advertising."

paint on tailgate bubbling

There are two locations on the tailgate showing the paint bubbling. It looks like rust under the paint although the paint has not chipped. I understand from reading customer complaints that this is a common problem with the Ford Expedition, that Ford is aware but will not fix it. I spoke with Ford corporate customer service this morning and was told Ford was not aware of the problem. Yeah right!

They did suggest I keep any receipts that I have if I fix the problem. That way in the future IF Ford loses a law suit for this problem I MIGHT get a reimbursement! I guess sort of like the Spark Plug issue we were all just notified about............date, time, service center, price, specific work order and receipt along with your first born.......you might get a couple of bucks back!!!! Should not only be GM and the airbag manufacturer that needs to be slapped with a huge law suit and fine.
