The liftgate hydraulic cylinder exploded into small pieces even though the liftgate was not engaged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

The contact has taken the vehicle to a dealer who informed the contact that the two arms on the lift gate needed to be replaced. The contact has not had the two arms replaced. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the lift gate and they informed the contact that a service representative would notify him.
