Get my truck washed weekly and gets waxed quarterly, zero rust should occur in this location, looks like crap. I have a clear coat with sparkle its not from outside sources, total inside job, FORD!! lets get the paint right.

Bubbling paint on the tailgate area, apparently a common problem with Expeditions. Contacted Ford, they said they were unaware of any problems with this.

bubbling paint on tailgate

Obviously Ford Has a major problem here. Been numerous Media attention about bad paint jobs, there are online Forums, Facebook pages etc.... all the while FORD just turns their back and ignores it.

This will definitely be the LAST Ford vehicle I purchase. To pay $50,000 for a top of the line vehicle that the Paint starts to corrode in 3 years is ABSURD !!!! Ford delivers the vehicles with a 5 year corrosion and unlimited miles, but THEN only claims there must be a HOLE for the warranty to be valid !!!!

Ford Eddie Bauer Expedition 2010 - bubbling paint on the tailgate around the door handle apparantly due to aluminum tailgate and an ongoing issue in many Expeditions and according to dealer - F150s. Warrantly is only 3 years and rust coverage only if perforated. Sounds like quite a few others are experiencing the same issue and Ford won't cover it. Dealer sent pics and Ford apparantly said no to coverage.

Had the same experience with my 2002 Ford Explorer - hood started to bubble and I had to get it repainted. No coverage from Ford there either.

Have called the Ford Relationship Centre and am waiting to see if they have an alternate solution.

Update from Jul 16, 2020: So ultimately Ford Canada picked up the ball and made the dealership partially pay for the repair, and Ford Canada picked up some of it so I picked up about 20%. I was happy but less than 3 years later, I started to see more of the same..... went back to Ford dealership and Ford Canada who said "too bad so sad, we did it once and even though in the interim there was a recall, they would not cover it again"... Dealership under new management but no dice. They told me the paint was guaranteed for life but the metal was not so the paint has continued to bubble on the hood in front, on the tailgate around the latch... looks like hell but that will be my last ford and I've been a ford gal for years...2 explorers and 1 expedition... unfortunately not much to choose from out there for a vehicle where I haul dogs to dog shows.... not going with a van (yuck) so not sure what I am going to do... right now just driving it until it no longer serves me to get repaired and then I'll junk it. Not a fan of ford but then, not many other reputable products out there that meet my needs!!!
