I have opened the sun roof in my truck 5-10 times since I've owned it. My son wanted it open a few months ago and it only opened a little bit and then stopped. Luckily I was able to get it closed! The dealer told me that there are plastic parts in the track system that tend to fail. Not a good idea to have a very heavy piece of glass sliding on tracks that have plastic pieces that don't hold up.
They think the track will have to be replaced. I have had problems with the plastic air vents in the second row breaking twice and a cover to the 3rd row seats coming loose, all because of breaking CHEAP plastic parts. Ford uses the most brittle cheaply made plastic I have ever seen in a car or truck.
