Rear window has a leak on the passenger side of the sliding window that has been sent back to the shop several time for repairs. Its on oing ! the window has been replaced w/ frame three times, but the truck has been in shop several times prior to and after the windows have been replaced. It would last a short time and would then start leaking all over again. ** presently still leaking **. # 2. engine has a knock during start up. Sounds more like a diesel ! both issues have been present since 14,000 miles or so. This truck has had several problems. To mention a few ; rear bumper rusting out, door & shift nobs breaking, body paint peeling, rattle in floor gear shift ( still present ), ** now the air conditioning is not working **. I like the truck, but would rather have one with out all the problems !
Both passenger doors have structural cracks on doors. This defect was caused by using no support on the doors while in the assembly line. As the cracks get bigger the door frame will lose its integrety and if I'm ever involved in any accidents my family and I will probably be hurt or kill seriously. I contacted Ford company and the will replace the doors but not mine because my warranty ran out. I feel this is not fair because it is a major manufacturing defect that should of been corrected along time ago. I I'm not the only one with this problem. If you go to these site you will see what I'm talking about..www.netwiz.net/~ctbaker/problems/.
After hearing about Ford trucks having problems with the door metal "splitting" asked dealer where to look? dealer showed me the area and stated he had not seen any reg. Cab pickups with this problem, only ext. Cabs. After leaving dealership, I double checked area and found that the door skin on both doors, are splitting / tearing. After finding mine, this makes apprx. 35 vehicles with the same problem that I myself have heard of. Affected area is apprx. 8 - 12 inches above the door handels.

There is a crack in the driver-side door that is coming from the inside of the frame next to the window and is stretching down the side of the door towards the rear of the truck. I have contacted smith Ford and Ford Motor Company more than 10 times each. They each want to tell me to call the other. The crack is going to begin rusting soon. I am afraid that the driver side window may shatter as a result of this crack. I have seen several other trucks with the same crack. On some of these trucks, the crack is folding in on itself. It puts more pressure against the window. It is my fear that this will happen to my truck while I am driving down the road and the window will shatter. Any help you provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Left door exhibits a crack in the door sheet metal. This crack is increasing in length this is a ongoing problem with many 97 F150's and later models also. This crack has to be a very unsafe condition.
After reading postings on www.F150online.com I looked at my own truck and found a small crack in the sheet metal on the drivers door. The crack is located next to the drivers window in the lower right corner. This is defenitly a defect and Ford needs to address the problem!
Interior courtesy light intermittently comes on while driving.also, power lock failed to lock after shifting into gear. Dealer/ manufacturer were not contacted at this time.
Doors have stress cracks at the lower right sides dealer repaired once, but cracked before I picked it up, exhaust fumes entering car and discoloring R-rr wheel.
Outside of the door frame on the driver's side is cracked about 8-12 inches around the door handle. Manufacturer was notified about the problem. Problem has not been corrected. All they say is the vehicle is covered for 36,000 miles or 36 months..et.
