No rant here. I bought this truck used and understand that some things may need TLC. I wanted to log my issue here for hopes that someone may have seen the issue before and knew of a fix.
Update from Jan 18, 2016: I want to close the loop and report that my problem was fixed by replacing the resistor for under $25.
I bought Wells JA1499 HVAC Blower Motor Resistor on amazon. The replacement is simple. You reach the part behing the glove box. If you need instruction, simply find a video on youtube, there are many of them.
