Just another reason I'm never ever buying a Ford again.

F-150 Limited V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

For the last month every time I refuel my truck it will fire, start, and then stall. Will not restart unless I pump the gas and hold it down. After running for a few minutes it will work fine until the next time I put fuel in it. The check engine light came on one time while I was driving it down the freeway. Pulled into my mechanic and he hooked up the computer. Said there was something wrong with the vacuum created in the fuel line but didn't have a fix for me. Shut off the warning light and told me to drive it.

F-150 Lariat V8

Following filling the fuel tank there was the loud sound of the starter turning over but the engine would not fire. Finally two or three cylinders would fire then the engine died and the check oil light came on. After several attempts it would finally fire but still miss some. Run the RPM's to 3-4000 for 15-20 seconds and it would start running smooth and there would be no more problems.

Found the vent solenoid was not functioning and had the vent valve solenoid replaced (cost 176.53). Took several days as part had to be ordered. Then learned delay was because the part was out of stock and on back order. Discovered there are two service bulletins out on this problem so it may be fairly common.

This is my third Ford and problems with all three. Farm friends have Toyota's and never complain. Guess I know what I'll do next year.
