Ford recall 19S07 under this program, it is only a software fix to program the vehicle to ignore the symptoms of failure. The software patch programs the computer to ignore errors in the oss sensor. This could mask true problems with the oss and thus the transmission as a whole. Further, it could cause a catastrophic failure of the transmission, engine, or both. Our vehicle started experiencing the symptoms described in this recall on or about February 10, 2019. As my wife was accelerating onto the highway, it shuttered and downshifted into first gear. After a few moments, the vehicle shifted back up normally. As soon as the recall was issued, I scheduled an appoint with andy mohr Ford in plainfield, in to have the vehicle repaired on or about February 26, 2019. I was informed that the software patch for the 2013 models will not be available until the second quarter of 2019. I advised the service representative that we were experiencing the issues described. I was advised that the vehicle was not safe to drive. I contacted Ford's customer care and was advised the same thing but that they would not provide a rental vehicle in the interim until the fix was issued. On or about March 5, 2019, I spoke with the service representative with andy mohr Ford again and was advised that the software patch would not actually fix the issue of the transmission downshifting. Further, it was stated that the vehicle is not safe to drive. Further, that this fix would simply mask the issue that was potentially wrong with the vehicle and that Ford would not cover the repair for the actual defect.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving highway speeds, the transmission downshifted into first gear. Also, the wrench icon and check engine indicator illuminated. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to natchez Ford Lincoln (888-508-9699, located at 14 sgt prentiss dr, natchez, ms 39120) where the technician reprogrammed the computer, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who diagnosed that the lead frame and the connector in the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 42,450.
Widely reported- please read carefully! very similar to existing recall*, but not the same. Potentially deadly. Current recall does not address the sudden up-shifts mentioned here. 2013 Ford F-150 mfg defect: Molded leadframe assy in 6R80 transmission symptoms: Intermittent loss of speed signal causes sudden/unexpected slamming upshift from 1st gear to 5th when accelerating from a stop, causing a complete and unexpected loss of all acceleration. Indications: 5th gear suddenly indicated on display, dashes replace numbers on speed/mileage related displays (mpg, odometer). Speedometer may read 0, airbag symbol pops on, large orange wrench symbol may briefly appear. Pressing on accelerator does not cause downshift. Motor may stall. Remains in 5th gear without some other corrective action. Turning engine off and back on will reset the computer, and vehicle operates normally until next occurrence. Dangers: This could be fatal when pulling out into oncoming traffic, both from the side (pulling out in front of oncoming traffic from side street) or from rear (sudden, unexpected loss of speed/ no brake lights). Ford cannot fix this by re-programming the vehicle to ignore the faulty sensor any more than you can ignore an oncoming cement truck or train. Repair is approximately $800. If not recalled, owners may try to live with the risks or trade to an unknowing person, endangering lives of others. *this defective part is also the root cause of Ford recall #19S07, involving sudden violent down-shifts (not upshifts). Ford is avoiding the problem by re-programming the ECU to ignore the intermittent speed signals, allowing the transmission to fail more gracefully, defects to be repaired at owner's expense. This approach will not work for the up-shift problem. The defective part should be immediately replaced at Ford's expense to correct both problems.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 45 ' 50 mph, the transmission abruptly downshifted to first gear. As a result, the contacts torso slammed into the steering wheel. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V075000 (power train). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. Brighton Ford (8240 grand river ave, brighton, mi 48114, (810) 227-1171) was contacted and confirmed that the recall remedy was not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.

While driving and in 6th gear on a 2 lane rd, the truck shifted down into 1st and caused me to slide off the road. Wheel almost locked up. I turned the truck off and restarted about 10 minutes later. Placed the shifter in manual and used manual to get home. They next day truck ran but engine runs rough and trans acts up now and then.no damage but now the truck doesn't run right. I cleared the codes but not much better.
Today my wife was driving my truck with our two kids down interstate I79 at 70 miles per hour and the truck shifted itself too first gear locked up the rear tires and about made them wreck. I had too leave my job to get them off the side of the road and drive my truck back too work this is not only a issue but it could get someone seriously hurt
Moving gradually picking up speed after stopping at red light truck got to 4th gear and then proceeded to down shift all the way to 1st making it seem like some one hit me from behind. This caused my truck to go from about 35mph to 10mph very quickly and I was lucky not to be hit by the car behind me and causing an accident.
2013 Ford F-150 shifts from 5th or 6th to 1st gear without warning. Truck slows down at a extremely fast pace, engine repair light comes on, airbag light comes on and speedometer stops working. Happened while going 70 mph almost causing me to wreck my truck. This was on Saturday night, started my truck on Monday and ran fine, on the way to the dealership transmission problem happened again twice on the way, dealership reprogrammed ECM and was notified that they were still having problem and needed to replace the molded lead frame to fix the problem.
Jumps from high to low gear while truck is in motion when driving at low and high speeds on country, city and highway roads. Has also occurred when stopped to make a turn into traffic.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 30 mph, the transmission suddenly malfunctioned and erroneously downshifted from fourth into first gear, causing the vehicle to abruptly reduce speed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 63,580. The VIN was invalid.
Ford F-150 recall - current recall from February 2019 for the unintended downshift into first gear on 2013 F-150 did not correct the problem of sudden loss of gear and unexpected downshifting. Vehicle software was updated per the recall and the vehicle continues to experience sudden downshifting. While driving on a city street immediately after completing the recall repairs, the vehicle lost gear and suddenly downshifted into 1st gear from 5th gear nearly causing an accident. Rear tires have locked up on occasion while driving. Vehicle had to be towed back to Ford dealership in newnan, Georgia within one hour of picking it up from the same dealership after they had completed the recall software update. Ford dealership in newnan, Georgia then ran diagnostics and identified the lead mount cable as the issue.
Takata recall. I put my truck in drive and as soon as I get over 2-5 mph it shifts from 1st gear to 3rd. When this happens I loss the speedometer and my turn signals will not turn off. Check engine light comes on with a big wrench in the center of my gauges. Will not down shift below 3rd and will not go into 6th. Also the odometer, mpg, and trips all go blank.code P0720. Output speed sensor circuit. I'm told by Ford and a transmission shop that it's in the transmission! truck just hit 69147 miles and I haven't owned it three weeks yet.
I noticed my F150 shifting strange at some points recently(with in the last couple months) then I was watching the news and saw that there was a recall issued on 11-13 F150S. So I called my local Ford dealer and they looked up my vehicle to see if it was affected by the recall. It was part of the recall so they asked me to set an appointment for it to be fixed. So I did, I left it with them for two days on the second day they called to tell me they can't fix it because Ford hasn't developed the software to fix it and it won't be available until sometime in the second quarter of the year. I asked them if I was going to get a rental until it can be fixed due to it being a safety concern. I drive my 2 small children in this vehicle daily. They told me no and that I would need to call Ford. So I called Ford and after multiple attempts to try and speak to a manager in their customer relations department I finally get a call from lenny the manager who processed to tell me that 'safety is not a justifiable reason for them to issue me a rental' so I asked him what happens when myself or my children get hurt or killed due to the nature of the recall being that my truck can suddenly downshift to first gear as I'm going down the highway. He did not have any answer for that and told me there's nothing he can do. So I then asked to talk to someone above him. He said there wasn't anyone above him. I'm very concerned about driving this truck especially with my children in it if it can downshift to first gear at anytime. That can cause a big problem and hurt or kill anyone in my truck and others on the roadways. This is a big safety issue because it's putting motorists at possible risk every time one of these affected vehicles is driving down the road. And they don't have any way to fix the problem yet.
We found out recall after accident last year - when turning - automatic transmission downshifted locked, vehicle skid and caused accident. Was declared a total loss by insurance, we told them was not our fault. We had to pay deductible and out of pocke to try to replace vehicle. Now same vehicle is also under same recall.
Vehicle shifted into 1st gear when in 6th. Ran off the road almost causing an accident. Called corporate and they said there was nothing they could do. Took it to the Ford dealership for diagnostics. Bad molded lead frame. Ordered parts, dealership opened up pan and found metal shavings. Did not install parts because they said tranny was no good. Ford does not want to fix damaged tranny although vehicle now has recall for this exact issue. Contacted both corporate and dealership and pretty much told me there was nothing they can do, although they told me they would fix issue. I been lied too, made believed that issue was going to be fixed. Its been over a month of back and forth chirping with both corporate and dealership and im tired of this sick game of making customers believe they will fix the issue and turn right back around and say no. Im stuck and in disbelieve. Im making a huge deal because I had my 6month old boy in the backseat when this happend and Ford could have cared less.
Vehicle speedometer will stop working while moving and vehicle goes into limp mode only 5th and 3rd gear. If you are pulling out the vehicle will stall leaving the possibility for a crash. Ford reflashed the PCM per the recall didn't fix the issue. Now the say they need to change the lead fram which was recalled on trucks before this year but not this truck. A lot of these trucks are having this issue.
Unexpectedly down shift into 1 gear from 4th while driving 30+ mph, local street driving: Happened 4 times, each time I was on an up hill incline, adding power to increase speed. 1st thing that would happen is a loss of torque, shortly after the gear would drop from 4th or 5th to 1st and the drive train would act as a break rapidly bringing the truck to a near stop. Speedometer and odometer would zero out.I could get it to reset after a while.
