I used to own a 2004 Ford F150 with a 5.4L V8 in it. I had major issues with the timing and cam phasers started having a ticking noise. After having it diagnosed, I learned that it would cost me over $2000.00 for the repair as the whole front end of the motor had to be taken off.
I now own a 2014 Ford F150 3.5L V6 with the Twin Turbo EcoBoost that has 99K miles on it and this motor has developed the same issue as the 5.4L. After speaking with the mechanic in our shop, I learned that the timing and cam phasers are not installed and aligned correctly. A fellow coworker who has the same truck as I do only a 2013 model just spent $4500.00 at the dealership having hers repaired and she has 50,000 miles on hers.
You would think Ford would get this issue fixed but it's apparent they haven't.
