Thank God my son was only traveling straight at a low speed on a side street when this happened. He had to turn off the truck wait a few minutes then turn it back on several times to get home. We checked to see if this major manufacturing defect was covered by warranty or a recall. No warranty of course (2014 F150 with 53,000 miles) The recall for this exact problem was for trucks built between May 26, 2014 and June 19, 2014 and of course my son's was built in October 2014. We are told that it will cost somewhere around $2000 to try to fix this and more than likely it will continue to fail. Ford knows its been a problem since they started with it but refuses to fix the problem. They would rather risk the lives of their customers than correct their issues.

Recall Number 14V316000 Recall Date 06/12/2014 Component STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM Summary Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2014 Ford F-150 trucks manufactured May 26, 2014 to June 19, 2014, and equipped with Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS). The affected vehicles may have an incorrectly installed EPAS gear motor position sensor magnet that can lead to a total loss of steering control while driving. Consequence A loss of steering control while driving increases the risk of a vehicle crash.

What Owners Should Do Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the EPAS steering gear, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Note: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until they have been remedied. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S09.

After researching and reading several post from people with this problem on 2014 F150 and then finding this has been going on since they started with this EPAS system in 2011 it happens on several models and years besides the F150. People have almost died in many cases and after some people bring it to the dealership to be fixed it happens several times after and Ford doesn't take any responsibility. This is why Me and all my sons will be buying GMC going forward. As we seem to be dead to Ford, FORD IS DEAD TO US AND ALL I CAN TELL ABOUT THIS.

While hauling my travel trailer through the Adirondack Mountains of NYS, my power steering became stiff on right and left turns and in tight curves on road. The problem still exists after unloading trailer from truck. Have appointment with Nemer Ford Service this Thursday. Initially, on the phone they are inclined to believe that it is the steering shaft, but upon my on line research I found many many similar complaints and information about a recall for 2014 F150's with 5 ltr. V8 and EPAS.

I bought this truck from Nemer Ford in Queensbury in January of 2015 as a 2014 leftover, and I have a service appointment this Thursday with them. I am bringing a copy of the recall information and will ask for proof that the EPAS recall was handled on this truck before my purchase. Wish I had known about this issue before I bought this vehicle. I am fortunate that I was able to control the truck and the 25 ft. travel trailer despite the stiff steering, but it seems to be getting worse -- so no more camping until the issue is fixed.

I have heard that many owner with similar problems have been told that the recall does not include their VIN #, but this is because they claim that the dealerships fixed the problem before most of these trucks were sold. From the number of stiff steering issues being reported on 2014 f150 vehicles here and elsewhere, and I suspect the dealers did not take care of the vehicle recall but pocketed the money for doing so.

For the past couple months, the steering for this 2014 Ford F150 has been intermittently terrible. Most of the time, it feels like there is no power assist on the steering, and that I have to put all of my strength into turning the wheel. Sometimes the power assist starts working again, but probably 85% of the time, the power steering doesn't work. The problem seems to be worse on turning. The only precedence I've found is a recall in 2014. However, upon calling Ford, they have informed me that my truck is NOT part of the same recall, which is very hard to believe. I can't afford to get this fixed, and honestly don't believe I should have to pay for this if there is already a known and recalable precedence for the same make, model, and year.

The car is stock, with stock rims and recommended wheel size, and always serviced at ford dealership. It's rarely used off road.

A pump failure before reaching 100,000km is very disappointing.

I've had Honda, a BMW, and a Smart which never saw any repair before reaching 100,000km.

The power steering is binding more and more each day. I took it to Ford a couple of weeks ago and they could not diagnose it. Of course it is not under warranty for the power train. This should become a recall. by Ford because it sounds like an issue it was once recalled for.

We bought the vehicle in Feb 2018 we have brought it back in to the dealer several times questing what the noise is. Why the steering comes and goes. they have been saying its nothing. Or not sure what that is??? Now it is just gone and we see there had been a recall on the 2014 F150 for this problem but not for this exact one?!?!?! what in the world. The cost estimate is $2000.
