While driving on a busy highway with no warning my F-150 lost power. When this happened the drive power decreased by about 95%, and warnings appeared on the dashboard. These warnings included: Service advance trac, hill descent fault, see manual, airbag fault, and the service wrench. The engine idled roughly and the vehicle had to be turned off. We restarted and the same issues occurred so we parked the vehicle.
I was merging onto a highway and I went to accelerate and li ended up with a complete loss of power, no acceleration, and a flashing wrench on my screen telling me that I was having a hill decent issue and service advancetrac error. As I tried to get off the road once I lost power; the car started shaking violently while at a complete stop.
2016 F150 with the 2.7L ecoboost randomly dies after startup. Sometimes it will die while in motion almost causing an accident. There's no stored codes for the dealer. It's been in the shop 6 times total. The first time they put a crankcase vent sensor and then the 2nd time sparkplugs. It's dies and gone into limp mode multiple times but the dealer can't duplicate the problem so they can't fix it. It started at 9,000 miles and it now has 14,000 miles. I'm pretty sure it's the throttle body but they won't replace it without a code. It has happened randomly from March 2017 until today 8-13-17. I also have a recording saved on my snap-on scan tool of the parameters at the time it went into limp mode.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. While driving at any speed, the vehicle made noises from the engine and transmission areas. The contact stated that the vehicle consumed too much fuel and the air conditioning blew hot air. Also, the oil low pressure warning indicator illuminated and flashed off and on. The contact also stated that the brakes squeaked and the front passenger side tire deflated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (koons Ford in sterling, va) for diagnostic testing. The dealer found nothing wrong with the vehicle; however, the failures recurred several times. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same dealer several times and, during one of the visits, the engine was replaced without the contact's consent. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The vehicle was not completely repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40.
With a 1/4 tank of gas or 53 miles to E on an 8% down hill grade the truck will not pick up gas from the tank and the engine will shut off as if it ran out of gas.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was noticed that the fuel tank leaked fuel. The technician diagnosed that the plastic fuel tank was cracked. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the sun hit the tank and caused it to crack. The dealer stated that the failure was not covered by the warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not provided. The contact replaced the tank. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
Exhaust smell in cab. Have to drive with windows down to get rid of it. Ford says they can only help me when the smell is actually happening meaning I have to go to the shop right then and there. Also xm radio cuts in at out. Ford knows it's an issue but has no fix. It's at the same intersections everyday. They said keep checking in for possible fixed.
On 1/25/16, in the rain, at 6 am, I pulled out from a side street near my residence on to a major road and was increasing speed. I traveled about 150 yards and was up to about 40 mph. My truck suddenly decelerated to about 5 mph very quickly causing my car to skid in the rain. There was no accident since traffic was light at the time, so I pulled into the median and put the truck in park to see what was happening and I could not discover anything wrong. I then put the truck in gear and tried to accelerate again but the car would speed up to about 15 mph and then decelerate very quickly, almost giving it a bucking motion. After a few seconds the truck seemed to want to die, it would move and then seem to want to stop and die, and then repeat the process. I was able to get to the side of the road and park in a parking lot. I had my truck towed to the dealer and the dealer looked at it but said they couldn't find anything and had never heard of that happening to anyone before. I looked on the NHTSA site and found that many people had had this occur in this model. The work order received from the dealer did not indicate that anything was adjusted or replaced. To date it has not reoccurred.
Driving about 50 mph lost engine speed suddenly to about 10 mph. Have been told by 2 others that this also happened to them. Same truck model. Root cause given was throttle body cable. Accelarator box. Having ours towed to dealer ship today. Under 10,000 miles on vehicle.
I noticed a faint smell of gas while driving the vehicle and after a few miles a car next to me at a stoplight asked me to roll down my window. They told me my truck was leaking gas all over the road so I immediately pulled over and called for help. It was towed to a dealership where they told me a fuel line fitting was loose which caused the leak. My frustration was this was a new vehicle with only 1500 miles. The leak was severe enough to drain a full tank of gas prior to being repaired.
2016 Ford F-150 2.7L ecoboost model with only 3,928 miles. This is the third time engine has cut off on me while driving/accelerating! was taking a left turn from side road onto main road. While accelerating in the turn, engine started stuttering a few times (rpms would dip) and then it stalled out. Luckily I was able to complete my left hand turn without getting hitting by oncoming traffic and was able to pull over immediately. This time around the engine would not restart. Had to call Ford's roadside assistance to get towed to nearest dealership. The last two instances the dealer could not pull a code or diagnose what was wrong so nothing was done. This time the dealership has a dead truck on arrival so they can't tell me that there is nothing wrong with it (service and diagnostics has yet to be completed at the time of this writing). I have been in touch with Ford regional rep regarding my cases and I am told they cannot do anything until the dealer can diagnose what the root cause is. Obviously something is wrong. There are dozens of other complaints of engine stalling while driving.
Truck was running normal no check engine lights, making rt. Hand turn onto highway truck started to accelerate then the accelerator pedal quite working lots of dash warning lights came on and truck would only idle, used hazards to idle off highway, shut off ignition and restarted truck still would not accelerate, let truck idle in gear to get off highway, let truck sit over night and tried to drive next morning started to accelerate then quite idle only called to have towed to dealer for repair, dealer replaced throttle body.
Engine at normal operating temp, from a stop accelerated onto highway but before reaching 50 mph truck quite accelerating and went to idle check engine and other warning lights came on the accelerator pedal went dead would not do any thing when pushed.semi truck and traffic coming from behind had to do evasive driving to avoid crashing into truck, truck idle with hazards on to safe area to pull off highway. Called tow truck to tow to dealership, dealer replaced throttle body to repair.
Engine at normal operating temp. Driving at 45- 50 mph lost accelerator pedal several dash warning lights all came on and and truck only would idle.pushing on the accelerator did nothing, had to put on hazard flashers and idle to safe place to pull off highway. Called tow truck to tow to dealer for repair. Dealer replaced throttle body.
Driving at 45 mph lost throttle only would idle lots of dash warning lights came on had to idle across train tracks to get shoulder of road had to have towed to dealer for repair, replaced throttle body.
Second time engine stalled while driving in less than 2 weeks!!! 2016 Ford F-150 XLT 2.7L eco-boost model. This is the second time the engine has stalled and shut off during driving! not even 3,600 miles on it yet. Typical stop and go traffic during rush hour. Went to accelerate after rolling along with traffic (<10 mph) and nothing happens. Tachometer stays at around 500 RPM and does not go anywhere. Since this was the second time this has happen within the last 2 weeks so I wasn't too surprised this time around. I put it in neutral and shut off ignition and try cranking it. Rpms would barely stutter around 400-500 RPM and would not stay on. Tried a few more attempts while still rolling in neutral. I had to brake to a stop, put it in park, and had attempted to crank it several more times until it finally started up and was idling correctly around 800-900 RPM. This is definitely a safety issue and should be investigated immediately. Dealer says oem has known issue with throttle body causing Ford vehicles to stall while driving. Unfortunately, dealer says my VIN is not part of vehicle models affected by this issue. Obviously it is happening to the 2016 F150S. Both of my incidents did not throw a code so there seems to be nothing dealer can do to fix the problem for the moment. I do not want to keep driving this vehicle with this defective part and unsafe condition, especially with my infant son in the rear cab.
Ford throttle body issue - vehicle has less than 9000 miles. While traveling on highway (65-70mph) in a remote area, the vehicle suddenly loss acceleration and begun to shudder. No response when pressing gas pedal. We coasted to the roadside and attempted to restart the car. Vehicle dash warnings for descent assistance and collision avoidance appeared. Third attempt to restart vehicle worked. The issue occurred on 4 other occasions including stalling in a busy intersection shortly after accelerating from a stop. Each time restarting the car results in shuddering and error messages on the dash. Dealership says its a known issue and parts will take up to 3 weeks plus repair time. Manufacturer offered only to check on parts and update us 4 days later. They did not offered loan vehicle. Internet research points to defective throttle body for similar vehicles. Vehicle also has a defective sensor for tailgate ajar that has been unresolved in two attempts to repair. Vehicle is unsafe to drive.
