The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal collapsed, and the message "Brake Fluid Low Fault" was displayed. The contact was able to drive to Advanced Auto, where brake fluid was added to the vehicle; however, the failure recurred after driving 2 miles. The contact stated that upon pulling to the side of the road and inspecting the vehicle, the contact could not find a brake fluid leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that brake fluid was leaking into the brake booster. The dealer determined that the brake booster or the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact called on behalf of her father who owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her father was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with brake master cylinder failure. The contact was informed that the brake master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was informed of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.
