On March 30, 2014, at approximately 3:00 P.M. (pst) my 2000 Ford F-150 unexpectedly caught on fire. The truck was stationary in my driveway when suddenly black smoke and fire could be seen coming out of the driver side wheel well. The fire engulfed the driver side of the engine compartment melting all the plastic, wiring and the air intake area. The fire melted everything near the master cylinder and the cruise control housing.

I was driving my 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty pick up truck at 35 mph, when I heard a loud bang, I pulled over right away, when I popped the hood, I seen the coil with the spark plug on the other end ! it had blown right out of the engine ! I have read a lot of blogs out their and I was very lucky, because some people have had this happen and the plug blew out with such force it hit the fuel injectors and cause an engine fire ! I do not have the amount of money that Ford is charging to fix this issues that they have known for years that I have been reading ! their has been people that are retapping where the plugs are going into only to have this happen to another spark plug ! someone is going to get killed here and Ford needs to step up to this problem these 5.4 liter Triton motors are having ! I am in the military and just came home from iraq and really dont have to money to get it fixed the right way ! hope you can help ?

Blew #2 plug out of cylinder head on a Ford F 250 V10 Triton engine at 36K miles and then recently at 85 K miles. Problem lies in the manufacturing/design by Ford. Spark plugs have few threads to hold them in the cylinders. Also aluminum heads won't hold the plugs. Thousands are having this same problem with their Ford. Why no recall"???? I have to replace the head totaling nearly $ $4000 to fix this! talked to 3 other Ford truck owners locally, and they all have had plugs blow out of their Ford trucks too! what gives????" this is sad as this has been happening for several years now and Ford still feels like they are not responsible!!!

F-250 8-cyl Diesel

2000 F250 sd 7.3 diesel incident date 2/15/2010 2/12/2010 I took my truck into the dealer to get a oil change and a recall fixed on the cruise control. That morning when I started it up, it had a noise when I turned the wheel, when I brought it in, they said the gasket on my power steering had gone bad, and I needed a complete replacement of my power steering pump. Now is when the real problem starts... I had not experienced this problem prior to the dealer visit. All of the sudden when I drive on the highway, any rough road sends it into uncontrollable shaking, I thought I was going to lose complete control of the truck, it could easily cause an accident. I looked for this problem on the internet, and found this is a problem for many Ford sd drivers, and as others have put it, Ford won't do anything until the deaths out way the recall cost. It is up to people like you, to keep us safe, and make these car companies fix their problem vehicles before there are too many deaths. I am sure there has to of been an accident caused by this problem, very possibly 1 or more deaths, I know of one person with this problem on the website caused a 3 car accident. I called the dealer, they want to come to my home and drive it to the dealership, I said I would have it towed in, but they want to drive it, which makes me uncomfortable, since I am liable for what happens with my truck. There has been no modifications done to this vehicle, and the tires are the appropriate tires and they are filled with the proper air pressure.

A few weeks back, I noticed a slight ticking sound. In checking into this, it was thought to be a lifter or rocker arm. Two weeks ago while traveling on a two lane highway with the cruise control set at 55 mph, I blew the #4 plug right out of the cylinder head. The vehicle was towed to sutton Ford in matteson, il, where I was quoted a price of $3668 plus tax to fix the engine. This is ludicrous! I am expected to pay this much money for a Ford design issue! I can get another engine for slightly more than that! heck, I can get a decent commuter car for that much money! in researching this issue, I have found that this is a somewhat common problem with Ford Triton engines. I also found an alternative method of fixing the engine which only cost me $350, of which $300 was in the cost of the tools. I cannot believe that Ford will not admit to this engineering design problem and assist those of us who have loyally supported them for years. I guess if people are not dying, it is just seen as an easy way to overcharge people and make extra money via their service departments!

2000 Ford F-150 4.6L V-8. blown spark plug. Ford dealer claims that Ford will not approve a a repair and either the head ($3,000) or the motor ($5000) need to be replaced. There is no official tsb (technical service bulletin) on this problem, but unofficially, it seems that Ford is aware of the problem since the dealer put a "'special note" on the quote from Ford regarding the unapproved repair work above. From various internet searches, others have had trouble with Ford 4.6, 5.4 or V-10 motors with spark plugs blowing out of aluminum heads.
