While driving at 35 mph spare tire carrier cable located underneath the vehicle broke. As a result, the spare tire fell off in a residential area. The cables end had come of due to the rusting and fracturing of the cable at the end piece which was cast onto the cable end. The consumer was told by a Ford service department that these failures were a common problem.
The spare tire carrier located underneath the truck broke. The cable frayed and snapped. As a result, the spare tire fell off while driving on the highway.
