2012 Ford Fiesta fails to turn on at random times. Lights from the control panel to the headlights continually blink and turn off while driving. This evening while driving down a busy highway, I made a right turn and the transmission locked up and I could not accelerate or move the car to safety until turning the car on and off again. Also, a few days after I bought the car, the back right door opened while I was driving with my 10 yr old son in the backseat. Ford dealership fixed the door issue but the power and transmission issues are still going on after Ford checked the car and stated it was fine in my service paperwork. The car is clearly not fine.

I was driving my 2012 Ford Fiesta on Sunday, November 1st, 2015 when the rear passenger door flew open!!!! I fear for my safety in this vehicle!!!! this is yet another manufacture's defect on this dangerous car!!!! what if I had my pet in the car"?? or a child??? I can not believe you have not made Ford recall this car!!! in addition to my latest episode I have also had my transmission's computer tmc updated 3 times and the entire transmission replaced!!! and my car drives worse. It jerks, almost dies at take off, sputters and hesitates and then suddenly jolts forward!! it is only a matter of time before someone is killed in this car! how can you continue to allow Ford corporation to abuse it's consumers in this manner! I thought this Agency was the governing agent over these types of issues! I will be sure to document all of my problems with this car in the event that something horrible should happen to me while driving this car! we as american consumers need your help! I called Ford headquarters and spoke to a customer relations agent named le roy today, November 3rd, 2015 and was told that Ford will only authorize 1 day car rental to repair any transmission problems! I know of no dealership that can perform the repairs in 1 day! how in the world can this repair be done in 1 day? it took 3 weeks in November 2014 when they replace the entire transmission. I was told I could pay for any remaining days rental if I wanted my car repaired! the transmission is faulty, dangerous and I should have to pay any rental days it takes to repair this car" this is a manufacturer defect and should be repaired at no cost to any customers! I hope you start taking this matter seriously. As an american I try to buy only american made products and this is how a big corporation is allowed to treat it's customers is an absolute disgrace!!!!! recall this car..please before someone dies!!!

This vehicle has had multiple transmission problems since I first purchased it. It now has 42,000 miles on it. After recall #15B22 service was performed on 9/4/15 the problem has gotten much worse. When you are at a stop and then start to pull out into an intersection the car hesitates to the point of almost stopping then it lurches forward followed by severe shuttering. It seems to get progressively worse the longer the car is driven and given a chance to warm up. There are also a wide range of minor shifting problems at various speeds and conditions with loss of power during those times. I have taken the car back to the dealership but they tell me that if they cannot get the car to make the same problem they cannot fix it. After leaving the dealership the car still has the same problem. I have had problems off an on and have went through several Ford updates and fixes for this, but none seem to help. It is to the point now that I feel unsafe driving this car.

Although the transmission was updated per the recall it putts or hesitates/stalls with the slightest incline and worse on a real hill. I can't pull out into traffic quicknow because it would cause an accident and it shouldn't be that way. I took it to Ford of escondido and was told that some putting is normal but I know this is not right. It is an ongoing issue. Has been since like 3 weeks after I bought it.

I have had consistent problems with the dual automated clutch transmission(powershift) in this vehicle...some of the symptoms include shuddering, hesitation, gear clanging, grinding, and bucking of the vehicle (which I believe are directly related the car's transmission). These symptoms have at times dangerously impacted my ability to control the vehicle during normal driving conditions. I have made several attempts with the dealership and car manufacturer to get these issues resolved, and their attempts have been disappointing and ineffective thus far. I am currently involved in the third attempt to get these issues resolved with the dealership...this is also the second attempt of the dealership to correct the problems by replacing several failing components in transmission. I don't feel confident that these issues can be resolved. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle. The above mentioned symptoms occur intermittently while the car is in motion and in stop and go traffic.

Transmission is not shifting right. Had it to the dealership on 3 separate occasions. Stalls out when shifting, losing power while accelerating, often pausing before finally shifting. Transmission shifts when it doesn't need too. Usually in motion is when all of the above takes place. Grinding noise and shudder. Clearly it is the faulty transmission.

Purchased used with low mileage. Recently had defective clutch plates replaced per Ford recall to solve shudder problems. Dealer also per recall applied a software update to the transmission. Now the car will loose power to the transmission without warning. Check engine light came on - multiple attempts to start car. Back to dealer two more times for software update. Still loosing power (out of gear, no power) to move car forward. Very scary. Taking car back again for possible tcm replacement. All of this occurring over a three month period. Feel very unsafe with this car - without it I am unable to conduct my work with my clients. Please help as I can't afford to keep going back to the dealer to try to resolve.

The transmission of the vehicle is sluggish going into higher gears, also has a shutter in lower gears and feels like it may stall going up hills also sometime it jumps forward when you lightly touch the gas. This is a definate safety problem as you cannot control your vehicle. We have just bought this vehicle and are very unhappy with the performance.

Multiple clutch failures. First one started failing around 50,000 and replaced at 70,000. Replaced second clutch at 100,000. This third clutch is now failing at 130,000. I see from reading many other similar complaints on this site that it is a systemic problem. I have experienced the same chronic symptoms of erratic acceleration and shuddering in first, second and third gear. I have had many near accidents due to this problem. To me this is clearly a defective part and needs to be recalled.

My vehicle was having trouble changing gears and felt as though it was going to die at the intersections. I took my vehicle to the dealership where they performed a "reprogram PCM and tcm". within a month of this repair, my vehicle was exhibiting the same issue! I took it to a dealership in phoenix, AZ and it took almost 5 weeks to get the new transmission delivered to the dealership due to the part being out of stock with the numerous requests for new transmission on this year vehicle. I had to fight with the dealership to keep the rental car I was provided with. They continually called me requesting I bring the rental car back although my vehicle was not yet repaired. I have been having continuing problems with my car and took it in to the dealership today for yet another recall on my transmission and was told it would take approximately 3 days to perform and that Ford will not provide me with a rental vehicle while my repairs are being performed. How can a company sell a car to consumers with a knowingly defective transmission and not be accountable to the people that purchased this vehicle in good faith" I can not believe that the safety commission is not holding Ford accountable and making them reimburse and rectify this safety hazard. I have made my entire family aware in writing, should something happen to me in this vehicle, they are to proceed with a law suit! how many people need to be injured before this vehicle is recalled?????"

My door will not shut and is currently duct taped shut. I don't feel safe driving my car because Ford says that my doors may open while you are driving. There is a notice of a recall out but, I can't get my door fixed because Ford doesn't have the parts. However, I was still never offered a rental or any other form of help on this matter from Ford. I spoke to them on the phone and emailed them and my car is at their service center right now and I have not been offered a solution. Also, I have issues with my transmission. I drive a manual and when I go to back out of a parking spot, etc. It will often grind. I have to try several times to get it into either first gear and reverse. Last October (2014), there was a service bulletin so Ford rebuilt my transmission. This did not resolve the issues though so in may of 2015 I finally emailed Ford but I never got a response. Now, with my door not shutting I thought it was the perfect time to take care of all of these issues. My car is at the service center now, but Ford has said they don't see an issue with the transmission. It doesn't grind every time I put it into first but it happens at least once a week and when I am at a stop light it can be difficult to get it into first gear. This makes me really nervous to turn left in front of on coming traffic.

I first submitted a report on this site back in December 2013 regarding issues with my transmission/clutch. I had owned the car for a year and had about 36000 miles on my car when it started stalling but the issues probably started around 20-25,000 miles. Although I do recall one instance about 6 months after I bought the car when the engine/transmission seemed to cut short on the highway. Most of the transmission issues involved shuddering/shaking and growling noise/stalling sensation when in 1st/2nd gear.my mechanic (non-Ford related) mentioned it didn't seem normal. A few weeks later my car semi-stalled in an intersection. I took it to Ford, they kept my car for a month until they got the part and "fixed" it. A few months later I got a letter stating there were issues with transmission. But no formal recall which is shocking....now a year and half later and about 15,000 more miles on my car I have started feeling that same sensation when driving. I know the issues with my transmission is starting again. I recently moved out of state, and the dealership I called is giving me the run around when bringing it in (no available appointments for weeks, no free rental car which if it's under warranty I should get). Plus there is the door/latch recall. This car is unsafe, I'm shocked there hasn't been more recalls or taking the cars with this type of transmission off the road.... already contacted Ford regarding my frustrations with this car. They've extended the warranty but what good will that do when the warranty is up and the transmission is failing every 20,000 or miles or so" or when someone gets hurt" the fair thing for them to do is apologize for their mistakes, take the cars off the road, and reimburse people for the cars. Investing in quality car that is safe and reliable is important. Ford is not it.......updated 10/20/15 updated 12/13/2017

This vehicle has become dangerous for the third time since I have owned it. The transmission won't engage properly when pulling out from a traffic light or stop of any kind and I have been almost broad sided more than once. I cannot make it through the intersection without the transmission jerking and the car stopping long enough to be dangerous. Also, it makes a metallic sound and feels as if it is grinding. I am still paying for this vehicle and it is sitting at a Ford dealership for the third time. This time, Ford will not return my calls and the dealership tells me that the parts are back ordered and another customer has already been waiting for two months for his to be fixed. Please help me get a safe vehicle to drive!
