CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't

Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.

2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

I can't open driver side door from inside. I have to roll over window and open door handle front outside. In emergency it's a disaster. This should be recalled ASAP.

Driver side door handle is not working properly. I have to pull the handle latch out half way and then pull on the lock latch and the door will open. Or I can roll down my window and open the door from the outside. From what I've read this is a very common problem with this car.

Am planning to have it repaired this weekend. Definitely annoying to have to put down window & open door from outside! Should extend recall for door latches to include 2010 models. I did report this to Ford.

Fusion SE 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Driver door has to be opened by rolling window down and egress from using outside door handle. Does not automatically unlock when placing vehicle in park. Does not allow a safe egress from vehicle. Appears to be related to gear shift. Inside door handle useless, remains in locked position. All others door open and close ok.
