CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't

Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.

2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

I have owned many Ford's (Pinto, Escort, 2 Taurus's, Focus, Freestyle and Fusion). It really ticks me off when an auto company won't stand up when there are known problems. I understand that cars will have problems, but when so many have the same problem and Ford won't do anything that ticks me off. If you look on the WEB you will see that a good number of Fusions with the 6f35 transmission have had problems with the left side half shaft bushing/seal leaking. From reading the TSB they say to change the half shaft, bushing and seal. It leaked long before I had it fixed, mostly in the Winter so I would just add transmission fluid. I finally attempted to change it myself and had the half shaft out, but the slide hammer setup I had rigged wouldn't pull the bushing and I was afraid to mess up the transmission case so I put it back together and took it to Ford. My son also has a 2010 Fusion and it had less miles than mine and he had to have the half shaft changed also. It had the same issue.

When there is a known issue stand up and fix it Ford!

Fusion SEL 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

The left axle seal breaks and you leak fluid. As described in the video attached it is due to the axle not having a smooth surface and a cheap buffer inside the axle. Thus the buffer breaks down and causes the seal to break down. It is a common problem and Ford needs to do their part and recall it!

Fusion SEL 4 cyl

I took a chance with Ford and got burned, I should have kept my 2001 Camry 450000 km) that my son drives now with all orginal drive train parts.

2010 SEL just past basic warranty, I got a estimate just to take it apart will be $800 in addtion fixing the problem. I'll never buy a ford product again!
