CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Fusion doesn’t have the same track record of power steering failure as the previous 3 model years. Of course, those owners said their steering failed at 60k–100k miles. So this appears to be a classic "wait and see" scenario.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of interior accessory problems to complain about. By themselves, each is a barely a blip on the radar. But combined, they give you that feeling of what the hell have I gotten myself into?

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that upon starting her vehicle, the power steering assist and the service advance track warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that her high beams and her turn signals no longer operated as designed. The contact called the manufacturer where she was informed that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15V250000 (steering). The dealer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

My car was apart of the headlight recall in 2013. After the fix the driver headlight was never the same. Recently that driver headlight went out when driving at night. To change a headlight it costs $30 per bulb and then a couple of hours of time to remove/replace the bumper at $160 an hour. In my case, it wasn't the bulb but the body module control which handles all the lighting in my car. The headlight is supposed to be at 12 volts, but was at a 9 volts and I'm told it finally shorted. I think this has to do with the headlight repair done years ago. This ended up being a $1000 repair. For a headlight this is a terrible build for consumers.

My 2013 Ford Fusion is experiencing an issue with the climate control system and the window controls. I have lost communication with the 'front control interface module', 'door control module a', and 'door control module B'. when this happens, my ECM displays the following codes, P193E: A/C clutch request signal, U0199: Lost communication with door control module a, U0200: Lost communication with door control module B, and U0256: Lost communications front controls interface module. This happens quite frequently, and it has happened when my car is in motion and when my car is stationary. Sometimes this happens when I start my car and sometimes this happens when I am driving. To be clear, I have no air conditioning, no ventilation, and I can not roll down my windows. To make matters worse, this seems to happen more frequently when the temperature outside is towards 90 or more degrees Fahrenheit. This means the interior temperature of the care gets to be very hot. In my experience, the only way to fix this issue is to disconnect the battery terminals and then reconnect them but this only offers a temporary fix to the problem.

Headlights going out so often! you need to remove the bumper in order to access switching these bulbs. This is costly in labor and Ford oem parts. When one headlight goes out it triggers them all to go out. Very dangerous if on a road trip or driving at night. Was sold a vehicle with my headlight pigtail plugs corroded. Estimate is $680 from Ford to fix my issue! $360 for just a headlight switch. There is a recall on some 2013 Fusion they claim a defective film however ive spoken to dozens of other owners on Ford forums at this point, who have my same issue with the headlight low beams going out within a year. Planning on getting together and filing a mass claim if they dont rectify my corroded equipment issue. Might have to steer people away from buying Fusion. I was pulled over for this too and nearly hit by speeding cars only to find out it was not even a burnt bulb.

Passenger headlight going out constantly. Need to take bumper off to replace the headlights, not a cheap or easy fix. I have come out of pocket to replace the set already costing me $136.50, 1 month later same headlight has gone out. Ford is quoting me over $200 for parts and labor and $99 just to look at it. My vehicle was manufactured in Sep. 23 2013. My headlights should have had a 6 year warranty and my new set has a 7 year warranty. Very disappointed that you have to go through all that work just to switch out a light bulb when its obviously a manufacturing issue with this vehicle.

November 2016 while I was coming from the grocery store my car suddenly stalled and completely stopped. I immediately started the car back up and drove for a good 2 minutes and it did the same thing, but this time I was in the street. After letting my vehicle sit for 15 minutes it did eventually start back up and drove smoothly. But that wasn't the last time my car would just suddenly stop. In December I took my car to the dealership for an oil change and told them what had happen to my car. The check my fluids and told me nothing was wrong (which was a lie). Everyday since November if I drive my car too much, it shuts off. If I am on the freeway in traffic, my car will just turn off. Now February, I received an error message (engine coolant over temperature) and my car will not move at all. Call Ford motor and was told my car wasn't included in the recall in regards to the engine, contact the dealership and I have to pay for it to be towed to them, because the part might not be included in my warranty. My car has 76,000. I do my oil changes and maintenance on time, and always go to the dealership. My car lights in the inside turns on while I'm driving without me even pushing them (creepy). My seat belt doesn't really restrain me and my seat doesn't really move back and forwards like it should.

The mechanism that cancels the turn signal after completing the turn is malfunctioning. Intermittently the turn signal will cancel prematurely, potentially causing the driver to turn into the path of an oncoming vehicle which thinks the driver is not tuning, because the turn signal is not flashing. The condition sometimes appears after applying only very slight input to the steering wheel, or applying no input at all, while stopped at a traffic signal for instance.

Whether moving or stationary, the vehicle turn signal will intermittently turn off after 1 or 2 blinks before the steering wheel is moved. This seems to be a random but dangerous problem in traffic. Dealer claims not to be able to replicate this problem but the manufacturer has modified the turn signal mechanism in later model years

Started up the vehicle in the morning after sitting all night, buzzers, warning lights and messages popped up on the instrument cluster. "hill assist not available" "service advance trac" two light are also illuminated, traction control and stability control. The short 3 flash signals work but the sustained flash will not, the signal will flash once and shut off. The biggest safety concern is the power steering assist does not work. It will actually jerk the steering wheel in the opposite direction! unfortunately I had to drive the vehicle 40 miles to work. It grinds and pops as the wheel is turned like it is trying to rip the tie rods loose. I am automotive savvy and felt I could handle driving it, however if my wife was to drive this vehicle I would fear there would've been an accident.

Took vehicle in for a number of issues, two of which were the left turn signal would shut off prematurely to completing a left hand turn and also both side view mirrors (mostly drivers side) would always reset itself to some random position other than the one I set them too whenever the vehicle would receive power, (when car is off and I would either open any door or press unlock on key fob or use keyless entry) mirror issue is easily duplicated (turn car off and open door to cut power, close door, lock car, and must wait at least 1 minute for all power to fully shut off, then unlock car and mirrors would randomly move around, almost as if they were trying to calibrate themselves) dealer witnessed mirror issue as it's easily recreated, did a bunch of updates of various control modules and then said car is fixed. Car was however not fixed as I went to use my turn signal to exit dealer parking lot, the turn signals now would not stay on at all for either turning direction. I must now hold up or down on turn signal lever in order to keep signals blinking, also the mirrors still randomly move when energizing vehicle. Dealer unable to trouble shoot issue further as tech was leaving now much drive my car with malfunction mirrors and even worse turn signal issue caused by the updates they did perform. Unhappy and no courtesy vehicle offered.

Pulling into a parking lot and the display flashed warning and dinged, power steering failure. Shut car off, warning gone, taking it to dealership tomorrow. Also to note ever since buying the Fusion the turn signals will randomly shut off before completion of turn, sometimes even before turn, every time the turn signal was activated all the way not just the first stage.

I was driving on the blue ridge parkway on a sunny day. My headlights were set at "auto." This selection automatically turns my headlights from daylight running lights to full headlights based on the amount of light outside. I entered one of the many tunnels on the parkway and my lights did not come one. It was a short tunnel, so I thought perhaps the sensor didn't "think it was dark enough." However, for each tunnel after that, and to this day regardless how long or dark the tunnel, my "automatic" headlights do not turn my headlights on. This creates an unexpected complete lack of vision. Ford corporate and my local Ford service department both agreed that this is not unusual, that the automatic headlights often take up to 20 seconds to make the adjustment. I know no other car where this adjustment isn't nearly instantaneously. Had there been a cyclist in the tunnel or had I met another car, this "anomaly" could have been catastrophic.
