This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
A 2006 Ford Mustang, with 5400 miles on the odometer, was involved in a two vehicle traffic collision. The driver of the Mustang rear ended a Ford Ranger pickup truck at approximately 40 mph. Upon impact, the airbag of the Mustang failed to deploy and the driver's seat belt failed to lock and restrain the driver. Since both restraint systems failed, the driver of the Mustang struck the steering wheel with her chest. Extensive front end damage was sustained by the Mustang. After the collision, the airbag warning light on the instrument panel was flashing, and the seat belt was found fully extended and would not retract.
