Sitting stationary at a red light and suddenly my rear window explodes into a million pieces. No one around with any yard work machinery, no vehicles moving around me. Just boom. It is a convertible so it was the rear glass in the top. The top had not been down and the defroster was not on. It was a mild day (mid 60's) and no other weather conditions. It scared me to death.

I read online that some other Ford vehicles had an issue with rear glass explosions, but I can't find anything on Mustangs. Dealer says they know of no reason or defect that would cause it. So I had to file an insurance claim and the repair is pending.

I was sitting in the car warming it up as usual with the rear defroster on and all of a sudden there was a loud pop and when I looked in the rear view mirror my back window had shattered. Because it was a convertible, the entire top had to be replaced. It was a extremely terrible inconvenience. Has anyone else had this experience?
