problem #2

Ranger 2.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 175,000 miles

When running after warm engine or cold acts as if it is not getting enough gas at speeds of 40mph or more can be driving along and engine hesitates press gas pedal and seems to pick up but repeats process soon. Have tuned up vehicle plugs, wires, rotor, cap. Replaced fuel pump in tank and filter. Just seems to be a fuel problem to me. Idles great!

Ranger XLT 2.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 275,000 miles

i have had my truck since may 7th. we fixed a lot on it just to get it to run. when it started running we found about 3 inches of sludge in the gas tank. so we cleaned it. and put it back on. we replaced both fuel pumps and both filters. then it started this new problem where u can be driving and it acts like it wants to shut off. u press the gas and it does nothing.. and it is really bad if u go up a hill. we have replaced the idle air control value it helped a little but not much. we also had to replace some other things. but it is still doing the same thing. so i am buying a new gas tank.. but what could possibly be the problem???
