The problem initially started last year when it was really cold. After heating up the vehicle for 2 days, the 4X4 finally disengaged. This year, once again, when it became really cold (-10 degrees), the 4X4 would not disengage after sitting in a heated shop for 6 hours. I had to continue to use the truck because my destination's weather report was calling for 8-10 inches of snow.

In the meantime, what kind of damage did I do to my drivetrain driving on clear, dry roads, not to mention the reduced gas mileage? This vehicle only has 51,000 original miles on it, and is in nearly pristine condition
